Wow! Strong words coming from a professor who is ripped to shreds by half her students. The word ‘awful’ used as much as any in reviews of her. Too bad these students can’t get rid of Professor Hagedorn.

Even if this were true, how would you know that? Are students' reviews of professors public documents?

There are some "Rate my Professor" websites out there, FWIW.
But more importantly, apart from the Logical Thinking ones, the same guy also did additional Star Trek PSA's on important topics like "Don't let strangers into your house," "Don't lie/be yourself," "Don't tamper with what you don't understand," "Don't ambush people," "Don't boss people around," and additional helpful topics (although some are not as directly relevant to Tribe Athletics).

Good stuff! Thanks again. Huge would have done well to watch the one called "Don't Boss People Around" which ended with this nugget: "That sort of behavior will always result in your ultimate downfall".

RE: W&M Cuts 7 Sports
I saw a spreadsheet on the Tribe Athletics site that shows the fundraising history, by sport, of the Tribe Club for the last seven years. It is called "Tribe Club Fundraising History (7 Years)" at this link:
https://tribeathletics.com/sports/2020/9...px?id=1869
It is interesting to note several things about the spreadsheet. First, it separates all men's and women's sports except for swimming and golf where they are combined. So, of the 17 different entries on the sheet, 13 of them suffered drops in Tribe Club giving between 2019 and 2020. Some of those drops were quite large which I wlll highlight below. However, of the 4 that saw gains in giving, 3 of them were Swimming, Men's Gymnastics, and Women's Gymnastics (the fourth was Women's Basketball). WBB went up only $1,715.76 (2%). Swimming went up $58,993.47 (44.6%!). MGym went up $25,870.49 (27.5%) and WGym went up $19,731.43 (91.7%).
Football went down $277K (39%), MBB went down $254K (61.6%). Baseball and MSoc also had large drops.
The point is: hopefully the new AD will look at this and realize that since only 4 sports had increased their donations in the last year that maybe cutting 3 of those 4 sports was not such a great idea !!

Does men's basketball include the 41 million for the Kaplan Arena makeover? I would doubt it. Anyone know?

It's clear that Huge was the scapegoat given quotes and comments. Glad she's gone, but I can't imagine she did everything on her own.

That is an odd editorial. They wrote a lot without really saying anything. And I'm not sure I buy the Nichol comparison. It's an easy one to make but I don't think they're quite the same.

In terms of the reason for separating from the College, the situations are very similar. In both cases, the moves that were made were not what alienated people, it was the manner in which they were executed. Both Nichol and Huge had many people who supported the vision/decision/etc. but still strongly objected to the manner in which they were carried out.

It would be interesting to see how much the tax law changes have impacted giving to nonprofits in general. Once I understood how the changes were going to impact my taxes, I paid off all my W&M pledges early so I could deduct them. But for all my other charitable giving, the IRS changes hasn't impacted what I do at all.

RE: W&M Cuts 7 Sports
Mr. J-
The comments in that thread are interesting.
Clearly, if the NCAA had any integrity as an organization, the NCAA would do a close examination of its rules and regs, and eliminate those rules and regs which are creating this carnage.
Furthermore, if the NCAA had any integrity as an organization, it would be working with Congress, another “organization” with zero integrity, and bring Title IX into the 21st century, post-COVID world, to put a halt to this carnage.
W&M needs to be bold, and take the lead here .... challenge the NCAA and the Congress! On behalf of all student athletes everywhere!

RE: W&M Cuts 7 Sports
NC Tribe makes a good point about tax law changes.
When the seat license was implemented, I had to divert some of my Tribe Club donation to payment of the seat license.
That resulted in a decrease in my corporate matching. My company always matched my entire Tribe Club donation, but they don't match seat license payments.
So my company's net donation to the Tribe has been reduced by the amount of the seat license fee.
--------------------
Point #2
When they mention Tribe Club donations decreasing, are they considering seat license payments as included in Tribe donations? I believe license fees and Tribe donations end up in the same pot of funds.

After reading this article, it appears that perhaps the withheld donations resulted in some unintended consequences. The same thing is going to happen in the future if people continue to withhold donations. The sports other than football and basketball are going to be the ones that suffer the most.
