If it was just contact tracing and not infection are they available to play right away if the game is moved to Thursday or Saturday? Or do they have to do the return to play protocol that a sick kid has to do?
Those players would then have ~1 day of practice even with a shift to Saturday due to travel.
App isn't going to want that.
Highly likely it's moved. In which case we need to contact FAU as they are free the 17th and we could play our game then and give us another date back in Dec to make up potential conference games.
It depends on the players, if they are down the depth chart who cares. My question is after the 14 days are they immediately eligible? I think infected kids are ten days then the return to play protocol of I think three days. If the game is moved so be it but if you are not going to play due to kids coming out or protocol or qaurantine you might not play another game. The article stated 11 I think would be in the last day of 14 day quarintine but I did not know if thay mattered anyway as Saturday would be the third day of the return to play protocol IIRC making is a non issue anyway.
Does anyone know if the non sick contact tracing players are immediatley eligible to play or practice on day 15?
They had double digit positives plus staff positive.
The contact tracing is going to affect a LOT. In contrast, we only had like 2 positives and we were down 33 players in our opener.
No HC worth a damn is going to want to immediately go play a game with players that have had 1 day of practice in 2 weeks. It's suicide. It's also possible they get hurt without getting back into the flow of things.
I will honestly be more surprised if I'm sitting in Paulson next Wednesday than if I'm sitting at home.
Yeah doesn't look good but they will have less out from what I gathered from the article than what we had for the Campbell game but that was Campbell. They can start working out today in small groups from the article. If they can get practice going soon and the contact tracing guys are not starters I don't see the problem but I don't know that or how many there are. I would just hate to see games get canceled altogether if we keep pushing games back. Third-string guys can play too lol

It is ok with me if we get to play a lot of App s 2nd and 3rd string. We need all the help we can get

You can count me in the camp of wanting to play and beat App at its best out of delusional pride and desire for bragging rights that can't be mitigated with excuses.
That said, I'm not as convinced as some that this game will be postponed. To be sure, I think it should be. App seems like it will be greatly hampered - if not borderline crippled - if the game is played as scheduled.
The problem is that the Sun Belt (or any other conference) is feeling the heat to play as many conference games as possible to maintain legitimacy for its season. If it seems as though more extreme flare-ups may be likely, then the SBC might decide to tell teams that it's going by NCAA standards and that any team that can field a two-deep has to play in order to make the November/December rescheduling scramble as manageable as possible.
This is where football was always going to have issues. You can have all the money and passion and public demand in the world behind the sport, but there's just no good way to go about managing in-season obstacles. You can't just play a doubleheader or cram a few games into one week like baseball. Every postponed game is making the prospects of pulling off anything resembling a full regular season exponentially smaller.

If App has anywhere near what we had missing against Campbell the game shouldn't be played. Makes no sense. We'll likely get our arses handed to us but I'd rather have the more solid team in a position for post season play. We're not very good this year but good enough and the thought of taking down our rival this way makes me ill. Anybody else I'd be happy to curb stomp.

I agree. I'm just saying that the parameters for playing a game are only going to get more and more lenient - leading to teams playing in worse circumstances - in order to play out the schedule. If this was three weeks ago, the game would already be called off and tentatively rescheduled. But with opportunities to reschedule dwindling, I'm concerned that schools and conferences will start employing a higher threshold before postponing important conference games.

In all honesty I m a little surprised the game hasn’t been postponed yet. I guess that means Appstill thinks there is some chance they will be coming to Statesboro next week

The problem is the entire team hasn't practiced since Tuesday last week as we had an overlap of the 21 players and 3 coaches that missed Campbell, and the 10 players and 8 staff that tested positive last week. Everyone from the Campbell game finished quarantine yesterday so maybe they're looking at trying to start practice back up with those that are cleared to go? One thing I haven't seen reported is how many guys are out due to contract tracing from the second batch of positives. That group wouldn't get cleared until the day before the game.

Read an Ethan Joyce article from the other day that said contact tracing quarantine would end on the 14th....which is the day of the game.
I'm not exactly sure of the timelines for when they found the positives and all though.

Thank goodness this game is in the Boro this year. I'd hate to have to be playing on the top of that mountain in mid-December.
Edit: I see they just officially announced it has been moved to December 12th.

Hoping November and December aren’t worse. I was optimistic in August we could play full schedules but I’m not anymore.

There was never a chance of anyone playing anything near a full football schedule. It's just a matter of how loose conferences will allow the strings to get on precautions in order to play as much as possible.

It was the right decision, our season is a cluster fu@#, even if we can field a team to send them down to Statesboro, with everything happing with the program, we don’t need to possibility infect GS our season is fast heading to the point of no return, no reason to take the GS down with us.

Appy gets to delay their gratification until December. Not confident we could even beat their practice squad this year. In our season of butthurt, it is poetic to have our highly esteemed rival to put the finishing touches on it.

Hold on a second. You are 2 -1 with your only loss by 2 points to Top 25 ranked Louisiana!?
I get you looked a little bit rough for 2 wins, but Dubs are Dubs

'Zactly, and like Saint said, how many of the games in this series go the way they're supposed to on paper?
