Both very small schools that can close down like the others.

WAC football:
Dixie State
Central Washington
West Texas A&M
UTRGV
Angelo State
Colorado Mesa
UCO

WAC None Football:
Seattle
California Baptist
Crand Canyon
Utah Valley
New Mexico State
Chicago State
Western Washington

WAC none football could break to reform the Great West Conference.

WAC could add Azusa Pacific as football only and the rest go to Great West.

Now we can see the WAC, Great West and Big Sky could move teams around.

Big Sky California schools can join the the WAC as football only and Sacramento State can play the other sports in the Great West.
Northern Arizona and Southern Utah to the WAC. Central Washington, Western Oregon and Colorado Mesa to the Big West.
Seattle Pacific, Concordia Irvine, CSU-L.A., San Francisco State, Fresno Pacific and Cal. Poly-Pomona to the Great West depending who can go.

WAC West:
UC-Davis
Sacramento State
Azusa Pacific
Cal. Poly
Dixie State
Southern Utah

WAC East:
West Texas A&M
UTRGV
Angelo State
Tarleton State
UCO
Midwestern State

Big Sky West:
Portland State
Western Oregon
Central Washington
Eastern Washington
Idaho
Idaho State

Big Sky East:
Weber State
Colorado Mesa
Northern Colorado
Montana
Montana State
Colorado Mines

Big West then could restart football.
Long Beach State
Fullerton State
Northridge State
UC-Davis
Cal. Poly
Sacramento State
Azusa Pacific
San Diego

WAC could then move West Texas A&M Angelo State to the west and add CSU-Pueblo and Mines. On the east, they can add Kingsville and Commerce. That would be the possible outcome. Chicago State will moved on by then.

Need more in the central plains to move up. Fort Hays State to the Big Sky not a bad idea either.

DavidSt,

You've heard Fisk wants to join the WAC?

I live in Nashville and find that hard to fathom. FU did hire former NBA player Kenny Anderson as men's hoops coach recently, so efforts are being made to upgrade athletics, but ...

Fisk wants to join D2. The larger schools want to escape D2 because it is becoming a mess.

I hope it's Eastern New Mexico University. The Greyhounds are better situated.

At a minimum, FCS WAC. They’ve got 3 in the bag—they just need 4 more.

LOL at giving David any credit -he's been throwing out lists with basically every college, so of course he's going to hit on one.

And he's been saying WTAMU for FBS, and a bigger conference.

Then you see his crazy realignment post, and should understand if you throw enough crazy crap, your gonna hit on SOMETHING.

The Texas Schools most likely to go WAC/FCS

West Texas A&M
TAMU-Commerce
Angelo State

TAMU-Kingsville
Midwestern State

Why these? Larger, and several have indicated interest at some point.

Only if they go back to West Texas State, East Texas State, and Texas A&I.

Of course, a fair argument can be made that the WAC of old is now known as the Mountain West.

The Southern Conference once housed most of the SEC and ACC. Idaho and Montana used to be in a conference with UCLA and USC.

What about this naming convention:

West Texas A&M
East Texas A&M
South Texas A&M

Maybe Tarleton St can be North Texas A&M to complete the set.

From what I've seen and heard, the A&M system wants as many of their schools in D-I as possible.

I thought Tarleton was a stretch for D-I to begin with, but they're going to make it. I'm not sure how successful they will be, but they are making the move.

West Texas A&M just opened a new stadium seating 8500, but with room for 12,000. This is smaller than their old stadium where they played Division I. Amarillo has the population base to support a FCS/low Division I program. I'm not sure about the school's plans.

A&M-Commerce now has 12,000 students, sits an hour from Dallas, and even closer to its suburbs. It's slightly smaller than Tarleton and slightly closer to the Metroplex. I wouldn't rule it out for them.

A&M-Kingsville is more likely to merge in some fashion with A&M-Corpus Christi than to go D-I. They have some athletic facility issues. Their future has been uncertain for the last few years, as state officials have been trying to force a merger with A&M-CC.

Ah, my bad.

FU in NAIA D-I currently.

Fisk might want to go to NCAA D2 but ... not sure that will happen. Trevecca did it but has more resources.

It could also be a team like Southern Utah or NAU, he doesn't specify that it's a D2 call up. One guy on reddit seems to think it's a current D1 member.

Especially for the WAC...?

In all likelihood it's a D2 school, but perhaps it's one of the MEAC schools. 03-wink

Stability has been the biggest issue with the WAC. However the SLC and BSC are too big. If they can go from a 1:15 chance of NCAA bid vs 1:9 bid.

If the league can get stable and shed the transiate stage, the wac will be better
