Does it irritate app fans that Drink used what Satterfield built to land an SEC job? That’s probably just my bias against Drinkowitz. For some reason I do not like him but always liked Satterfield.

It bothers me a little that Drink used everything that Satt built up for six years as a head coach to land a higher paying job after one year as head coach. I don't fault Drinkwitz for leaving for that kind of money*. I mean, I'm self aware enough to know an SEC school with a 70,000 seat stadium is a good career move. It just confuses me how the market vauled Drinkwitz over Satterfield; Drinkwitz makes more than Satt.

*I do, however, fault him for comments like, "This is not a stepping stone job," and, "I coached in the Sun Belt, brother," in answering a question about playing in front of near-empty stadiums.

It remains to be seen which one will do better at the P5 level, and which one should have gotten more money. I wish both of them success, but I believe in Satt more. He proved more over a longer period of time with his own built-up roster and in one year turned a two-win Louisville team with a toxic locker room/culture into an right-wing team with a sense of brotherhood. I couldn't be more proud of Appalachian's "native son."

That’s pretty much my thoughts. Don’t blame Drink for jumping at the opportunity but like you I value Satterfield more. I guess it has to do with timing as to how he landed a higher paying job.

I just never could stand Drink and he never said or did anything that offended me. I know my opinion is immature but It irritates me that he is making more than Satterfield.

Sorry I just can't see CCL making those moves. Strange times but man I hope this isn't what coaches are coming to. Seriously bush league stuff. Maybe peewee league. Dude throwing the Sun Belt under the bus to add to the immaturity. D-bag...

That was really special to see, two great and respectful programs on national tv in the prime SEC spot.

I'm glad we have a couple more games against each other, but I would like to see this become a regular matchup.

You know, there's room for 1 or 2 more football programs in the Sun Belt...

Trust me, most marshall fans would rather join the SBC than be stuck where we are. It's not the CUSA we joined in 2005 and it's time for a change.

RE: App v Marshall Saturday 3:30 CBS
I will say this, Appy isn't a 4th is 5th place team in the Belt. What I saw was a good accurate QB, some talented WR's and an aggressive defense. Whether or not you have people out for a game, with a good program, doesn't have as much meaning as people think. We lost our #1 receiver from last year, some key players on defense, especially the interior line and 2 linebackers, had a corner drafted, yet we seem much better or at worst, no worse at those positions than last year, but after 2 games it appears the next man up was an improvement at those positions. Good programs it's next man up, and I saw that from both squads saturday. Anyone who plays them this year is getting a handful, so go ahead and discount them now, there will be alot of face rubbing going on later, again jmo. BTW, if it wasn't raining with Charlotte, I think you guys win by 30 there, jmo, hell we played them in the rain last year in Charlotte and they beat us..... Good luck the rest of the way and win the SBC.

App from the first two weeks will lose a minimum of two SBC games, probably three. Turnovers and special team mistakes are out of the norm for the program the past four years. Lack of attention to detail thus far.

Against good defenses, turnovers are going to happen. Put it this way, if it wasn't for your defense, you would not have had the chance to still be in the game late.... Special teams, really wasn't that bad other than shanking that field goal (kinda offsets us going for it instead of kicking ours), you had good kick off coverage for sure against one of the best returners in CUSA. What got you more than anything else was losing the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. There won't be many other programs left on the schedule that will happen against. Your defense and QB is going to keep you in every game and win most. Again, good luck the rest of the way, don't be so down on the program (Marshall fans go into meltdown as well, we know how it is). You are in better shape than you think you are.

Your perception is I'm down on App, but in reality I'm higher on the SBC and level of competition we'll face the remainder on the year. Especially on offense, we're going to see 3-4 offenses that put 25+ points on our defense, which is one of the best Marshall will face all year.

Special teams don't give up a TD return and a 50 yarder in back to back games and miss 30 yard FGs, that is the bottom quartile of the FBS type stuff which isn't acceptable.

We have 15 days to get back to some fundamentals and let talent to play with any G5 get back our swagger. We'll see!

A loss like this could also serve as a wake-up call - could see a different App team. come out

Seeing the words "Tyson Summers" thrown around awful quick, but not surprised. I suppose it's understandable to pile on App since we're the 4x defending champs.

Personally, I'm back from the ledge more than most. We lost to a great team on the road and had a chance to win the game without the fumble and missed chip shot FG. It's concerning to get pushed around a bit the way we did, but we ran up against a tough, fast defense who matched our physicality. We really missed Pearson in the run game and the threat of Sutton. Marshall put 9 in the box and we didn't do anything to make them back off.

Not worried about defense at all. We played well enough to win the game. Grant Wells had a tough time getting going.

Really having a hard time feeling bad for Mike Evans. Threw a "punch" (more of an open hand slap to the helmet) in the Charlotte game after the play. Plus the garbage Instagram post.

I think Appy will be just fine. What we seen on Sat was 2 great programs go toe to toe and if you take a look at the stats they are all most all even. Even though Marshall controlled both lines this game came down to a few things. Marshall held Appy to only 96 yards rushing making them one dimensional. And the 2 key plays a Grant Wells 64 yard completion to Xavier Gains to set up a 12 Wells run to the end zone. And the punch out fumble. Without those 2 plays its 10-7 late in the 4th and then it's anyone's game.

By the way, anyone that roots for Appy that was there in the early 80s, if someone would have told you that in a few generations you would be watching a game against Marshall on CBS in a prime spot, what would you have thought.

Looking back at our leadership in the 80's, I'd have never thought it possible. We are just in year 6 of FBS and it is better than I thought it ever could be. If you guys run the table, then good for you and no telling what bowl you'll be playing in. If, however, you guys take an L somewhere along the line, and App is able to win out, let's meet again in New Orleans just for fun.04-cheers

Running the table is hard I don't care what level you are on. Even before the season of the Pandemic I though we had a chance to win 10-11 games with an OOC of Boise State, Ohio, Pitt and ECU. I think we should be favored in every game except maybe LA Tech. Winning those games though is a different animal.

Grant found out real quick what good corners are in FBS against you guys, I doubt he will see any as good the rest of the season. Competition like that will make a young QB grow up fast.

Our secondary has been the clear strength of the team so far. We're 3rd in the country in passer rating against. You're correct, you probably won't face a better CB duo with your schedule. Fully expect Wells to go off the rest of the season.
