Good game USM

What a game! Southern Miss. and Tech bring out the best in each other! I hope this series continues no matter what happens in conference realignments!

Sloppy a few times, but I think Tech-USM was a fantastic and exciting game to showcase on ESPN2 tonight. The kind of game that gets people talking about being exciting is always the kind you want on TV.

Wow! This year's edition of LA Tech vs Southern Miss included another story-book finish, like so many meetings in this long and heated rivalry. Thank you Southern Miss! IMO, you acquitted yourself nicely tonight. You have a much better team than many fans were giving you credit for prior to tonights performance. Now go kick some serious azzz in CUSA this fall.

Here's some good news for LA Tech fans. Apparently Tech had approximately 30 players --including 6 to 9 starters (depending on which source you believe)-- who didn't play against USM due to COVID reasons.

Here's what we do know: Tech had 9 freshman on defense that accounted for 40 tackles tonight against USM. That's incredible.

I was at that game. It made me ill. That complete collapse on our part was due to the ego of Sonny Dykes. You guys had a great offense that year, and we needed to keep it off the field as much as possible. Had we run the ball even a little and eaten up some clock, we'd have done that and beaten you guys. But no, Dykes kept throwing the ball trying to show what an offensive guru he was, and that gave that QB you had at the time all the time he needed to bring you guys all the way back. That was a great performance by that guy.

We did get revenge the next year though.

This was a great game to watch. Was either team short handed due to covid?

All 4 of LA Tech's starting Linebackers were out due to COVID. Hence the reason Tech had 9 freshman contributing 40 tackles in the game.

Just got back from Hattiesburg. Southern Miss fans were a class act. Stadium was beautiful and everyone was in it, even with limited capacity. Unbelievable game to witness in person. I still can’t believe we pulled it off. Will be rooting for USM the rest of the way. Good luck.

Also. Stink, you put on a helluva good shindig!! My complements to you and your friends. We had a great time at the Casa. Next time the beer is on me!

You're gracious hosting of fans from both Louisiana Tech and USM at your 2020 Pregame Protest Rally (all within strict adherence to COVID safety requirements and regulations of course) was incredible. Hated that we lost, but the most fun I've had at a game in years. Everyone talks about the failed 2 point conversion when a kick is all we needed (and that was dumb), but we really lost when we didn't kick the FG on the opening drive. Anyway, the team played much better for Walden than for Hopson.

both were tard, but 4th and 7 when it's only a 42 yd. fg....wtf...take the points, jacked up coffee corch...

the other caveat was JA not going to the ground on the screen with 6-6 in his face.....that was his only mistake....it was a biggie in the meltdown....

was still an entertaining 'pins and needles' game as usual with those guys....plus, I win a few $$$....

Team looked better this week. Hate we lost, but it's why we play the game.

Love that Walden is fired up and getting the guys fired up. Haven't seen that in quite some time on that sideline.

Walden may not be the man for the job, but he's the type we need.

USM did not play bad, they made some serious tactical errors early that probably cost them 4 points total. But then again, they were up 17 points late and should have sealed the deal. I went back and reached the game and still am in shock we pulled it off. I think "Coach Coffee Break" is gonna be fine once he stops trying to reinvent the wheel and does what he is good at.
