They likely couldn't talk him out of it. Or rather, they know they're losing bigly and are in full desperation mode...causing them to take huge risks. This one clearly bombed. He was an embarrassment.
But if you can't handle a couple voters and a peon reporter, how on earth can you run the country?
LOL, Trump didn't have a teleprompter. If he did in fact bomb in his appearance - which I highly doubt but didn't see it yet - he is at least ahead of Biden who bombs his appearances despite having every advantage given to him on a silver platter.
Dude, trump is even worse with a teleprompter...he comes off as very low energy.
And I said THIS one bombed...because it was a no-win situation for him.
Lastly, if you think the incumbent doesn't have the advantage, you're not a student of history.

At least he has the nads to face a difficult situation. Biden won’t appear before more than a handful of people, only takes scripted questions, and only lets friendly media get involved.

No one knew it was on and no one watched it.
I had NO idea, and I'm generally pretty tuned in.

He should turn down any interviews by Leftists until Biden does the same with Conservatives and that ain't happening which would tell us that Trump shouldn't do them. Screw them they don't care about him it's all about making him look bad. Especially with that runt Elephanapolus.

The President represents all Americans and should be willing to sit with those that don’t agree with him to hear their thoughts. In an intellectually honest society that would be recognized and rewarded. Unfortunately, the libs are way short of intellectual honesty, so your statement is likely correct.

Shouldn't that also apply to the other person who wants to be president? Afterall, if Obiden wins he or she will represent the nation. Let's see how he can perform if questioned by a Conservative, hopefully, not Chris Wallace.

Your problem though is that trump has no skills or beliefs to be able to interact with anyone other than a sycophant who praises him. He's incapable of empathy and can't process a difference of opinion unless he can lash out like he does with reporters or when he's speaking to a group of people. He has no one on one people skills. As squid says, if he wants to win he needs to avoid these types of things. That being said, my guess is that he sees the same numbers in his internal polling and feels he's behind, so he's making desperate decisions.

Well, glad to see you buy in to what your fed. According to every regular person I have heard interviewed about their 1-1 interactions with Trump tell a different story. They talk about his empathy, how he listens. Trump has a public character he plays. That’s what you guys haven’t figured out.

It doesn't matter. He's not going to meet one on one with every single voter in private. They can only judge him on his public appearance...and this one was a mistake. You have to be able to objectively see that.

Are you serious. Biden’s typical comeback is a demeaning “C’monmaaan” when challenged in the least bit. Biden literally has challenged two voters to fights when they disagreed with him during this campaign (he’s done it at least twice I know of ). If you think Trump lacks the ability to listen to differing opinions—then what are we to think of a guy who immediately resorts to physical violence when faced with another opinion.

Watched it last night. First segment on the virus was a little shaky but thought Trump crushed the rest of it.

You’ve only got two realistic choices. It’s tremendously flawed logic to discount one candidate on the basis of an attribute when the other candidate is actually worse with respect to that same attribute. Try to keep up.

I'd rather have a President who is incapable of empathy, but gets the job done for everyone based on a multitude of policies that better EVERYONE in society than some guy who pretends to campaign on good feelings and such.
I'm voting for a President, not for a new friend.
