Hopefully it's just a temporary thing. When it works it's a beautiful thing.

If Greg Hill, Kevin Ellison, Chaz Williams, or even Jayson Foster were in high school today, I doubt any of them would get DI offers at QB. Athleticism is more important than it used to be at QB but not that much more important.

Our issue is we have not (or maybe for some reason cannot) sign QBs in the quantity we used to. You can judge a QBs speed and arm strength on high school film but there's no way to know who is going to develop the best skills in the option game. The more seeds you plant the more likely you are to have the prize pumpkin.

This guy gives me hope. Thanks Louisiana!

We could not hit deep passes and passing overall has not gotten better with the QB. There has to be a better arm in our QB ranks. This mediocre recruiting combined with lack luster coaching is coming home to roost period.

I would wait until after Saturday to see if you are in a train wreck or not.

Honestly, I watched most of the game and I thought Campbell's QB and line were FBS grade. I think they have a strong FCS team - and I feel bad they can't get a full season in. The Campbell players, and head coach, were impressive as hell.

If you're not careful you can start to sound like a P5 team that barely beat a G5. They start saying 'woe is us, and our program sucks'. In actuality they may have just played a damn good G5. We will also see how well App State does against them after we play Marshall.

Now, for God's sake get a hold of yourself and play GS football this weekend!!!

Goronic is having a moment. May I take these words and frame them for my grandchildren. They'll never believe it.

Au contraire Yeller!

Why would I want GS to win? Hmm...well I'll give you a hint. Why would I pull for UNCC to beat UNC? Normally I would not care, but this year I do.

Why? I need every App State win to be against a quality opponent. I need GS to win as much as they can....I need Louisiana to win as much as they can. So IF IF IF App State beats you guys and Louisiana it is beating quality teams. And IF IF IF we lose it is to a quality opponent.

We can't just have you guys going around and losing to FCS and CUSA teams now can we??? No. Of course not.

On the other hand, if it were the end of the season...and you guys were playing the Soviet Union for the National Championship I would pull for the Russians. That better?

Now you canaries march out there this weekend and beat FAU - thanks!

I'm just wondering why the Soviet Union would be playing in a national championship against an American team 04-cheers

It was Campbell man, 6-5 2019 Campbell not a playoff caliber FCS team. They have done nothing to earn respect. Coming from the FCS I dont automatically dismiss them I looked at their record. They are not good period. They threw all over us with ease and our line play was hot garbage. Our Qb saved us with his feet, that is not going to work all season. We have no deep threat real teams are going to stack the box and we are not going to be able to get away with slightly bigger and stronger.

We need the seeds engineered to hit a pass past ten yards.

How is there a massive disparity among posters of this board versus our (GS) board? Pretty much everyone across the board, regardless of school, makes largely classy and intelligent posts on here. Judging from the GS board, I'm surprised the coach's house hasn't been set on fire. I'm just glad there's football to watch cause this whole year is like a bad commercial that I can't skip on the DVR.. Anyway, been awhile since I last posted. Think I'll just stick with this forum.

I haven't been on the GS board - and probably never will - so I don't know what was said.

My guess is that the fans are upset because after seeing other Sun Belt do so well, you guys almost **** the bed at HOME to a FCS team. I am just guessing though... 03-wink

Nailed it.

I think alot of our fans have had this season pegged as a standout year in the sense that we have had a few consistent recruiting classes, a 4 year starter at QB, the same offensive/defensive system for the 3rd consecutive year, and one of the more favorable schedules we've had since joining FBS (OOC wise). Expectations were high, even after the disappointing loss to Liberty in the bowl game. Last season saw a lot of adversity that was out of the teams/coaches control (injury, Shais arrest, the other guy that was a projected starter that got arrested prior to camp last year, the OL who committed suicide) so a lot of fans gave the team a pass in fighting through and coming out with a winning record.

BUT

What we saw vs Campbell was a team that looked poorly prepared, defenders out of place and giving up big chunks of passing yardage, poor OL blocking, and largely the same issues that have plagued this coaching staff since they showed up on campus. For the past few years our defense has no answer for RPO or play action post routes or slants, and the offense has gone from an exciting explosive option offense to one that has to grind out drives only to rely on FGs. To Campbell's credit, their team was very well prepared and you can tell there is talent there, but we as GS fans expected more in our opening game, especially after the Boise game was cancelled and the staff had an extra week to prepare.

Saturday's game vs FAU will tell us a lot, especially if we get some key players back that were expected starters. FAU is going to roll out a lot of first time starters with a first year HC and are visiting Paulson. If we look sloppy and manage to bumble this game away, I would recommend avoiding GSUfans for about a year or two.

If we have anywhere near 33 players out for the FAU game, then we can forget about it. At that point, I'd question why we didn't opt out of the entire season in the first place.
