The bill is to protect employees from suing the schools. Students are not employees which this will get challanged in courts.

Just one part of the bill. Will also protect hospitals/healthcare workers with respect to patients, will protect businesses from lawsuits from patrons, schools with respect to students.

RE: B1G having second thoughts?
Maybe instead of talking about COVID, we should be addressing what is really important. Specifically, once the B1G announces a schedule for resuming play, will the AP include them in their Top 25 poll next week? They include SEC teams now, and they haven't played any games either.

So if the B10 plays an 8 game regular season and a CCG, how would you feel about letting a 9-0 Ohio State in the playoff vs a 10-1 SEC/ACC/B12 team given there are fewer data points?

The PAC is out. There's virtually no competition between the other P4 conferences. I have no problem with the Big 10 champ being in the CFP with the champions from the Big 12, ACC and SEC. The rest get nice paydays playing each other in big bowls not included in the CFP. It's the perfect situation to give Champs only a try.

The only viable question is if there is a compelling good undefeated G5 champion and a 2 loss champ among the P4 who is it that should get in?

Still wonder if Michigan and Michigan St will play.

The question nobody is going to want to answer at these campuses if football is resumed is why weren’t other sports. Like, if the season does revive, it’s a cash grab. But these campuses have a population underneath it that can skewer these places as to why just football and why all this attention on a silly game when greater operations suffer the same questions, risks, and challenges.

And also the protocols other conferences held to when committing to the season. When the Big Ten scrapped fall football, what happened to its operations? Did restrictions ease? Wouldn’t schools need to restart all of that? Looking at a calendar, I don’t see how a game is played until at least the second weekend of October. Anything less...it’s going to be a ****show and PR nightmare the moment cases emerge.

A business invites patrons to its location for profit.

If a business is negligent in protecting those patrons, why in the hell should it have a legal shield against its own negligence, perhaps even gross negligence (what is the dividing line between gross negligence and "blatantly disregarding") ??

("Come on in, spend your money here and if we screw up and give you Covid, too freaking bad.....")

The same goes with universities for its customers, the students.

I spent 32 years defending businesses against lawsuits in civil court, but I don't think a complete shield against their own negligence is good public policy.

Do the PAC will play, meaning the only two FBS conferences to miss out are the MAC and the MW.

Now the MWC needs to get on board so Jack Murphy can get its proper sendoff.

Yep, instead of being Leaders, the B1G has ended up being ... followers.

Game. Set. Match.

The SEC, ACC, and Big 12 got it right and the B1G and Pac got it wrong.

The PAC has to overcome the liberal California policies. As of now, California policies prevent their PAC teams from even practicing.

Cali being Cali is one thing. If another state, and I’m looking at the northeast here, suffers another surge in the coming weeks or months, you’ll have problems there too, for sure. PA, MD, NJ, and MA...all eyes on you.

I think everyone realizes that things can still change in the no-play direction. Even the SEC/ACC/B12 did not guarantee they would play their full seasons. If the virus situation worsens we could still lose the season for everyone.

That's why I'm enjoying it one weekend at a time. I enjoyed this past Saturday and look forward to this coming Saturday, and hope they keep playing.

RE: B1G having second thoughts?
The Big 10 looked terrible with all the disunity surrounding the earlier decision to cancel and the lawsuits and the backstabbing and the cutting of massive amounts of sports - all showing poor leadership. But that only lasted 6 weeks or so and now they've righted the ship and followed the rest of college sports and will at least attempt to have a season like the others. This is good news - I hope they're able to complete the season. And by extending the season and the bowl/playoff schedule, this will enable the other conferences and schools to be able to reschedule prior canceled games like TCU-SMU.

As a preface, I agree 100% that the B1G screwed this up badly by jumping the gun on making a definitive statement for no reason other than to try to push their narrative and their arrogant belief that the rest of the country wouldn't just join in in lock step. Once they realized they'd drastically overplayed their hand, they've revised their approach (to one that leaves them little room for error, which further shows the stupidity of their decision).

That being said, the SEC still hasn't played a game yet. Your post is a bit like declaring victory after the first quarter. There's still a lot of time left before the season is over...

Well, it depends on what he means by "got it right". If he means the SEC/ACC/B12 were wiser to not cancel in August and to move forward with plans to play, he's right. That was a poor decision by the B1G regardless of what happens going forward.

But if he means that they were right in that football will be played this entire Fall, that is as you say still up in the air. The SEC/B12/ACC could all still cancel football at any time, if the situation changes.
