My tiers - feel free to to criticize. My criteria was based upon historical NCAA Tournament success, historically sustained tournament success and historical overall number of bids. This is not a present ranking of where programs are today, which would obviously not be the same reflection.
Blue Bloods - Duke, UNC, Kentucky, UCLA, Kansas
Elites - Arizona, UConn, Indiana, Louisville, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Syracuse, Villanova
Upper Class - Arkansas, Cincinnati, Florida, Georgetown, Gonzaga, Illinois, Kansas State, Marquette, Maryland, NC State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, OK State, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin
Upper Middle Class - Butler, California, Houston, Iowa, LSU, Memphis, Oregon, Pittsburgh, Providence, Purdue, Stanford, Seton Hall, St. John's, Temple, UNLV, USC, Utah, Wake Forest, Washington, West Virginia
