Sun Belt would have racked up even more P5 notches on the belt had COVID not been a thing

Louisiana and the Sun Belt look good. I’d be knocking on the door in LA Tech’s shoes.

It’s pretty apparent that the Sun Belt has dedicated itself to focusing on football oriented schools and that’s starting to pay off.
App State
Arkansas State
Louisiana
Troy
Georgia Southern
All can be dangerous on any day.
Good, hard nosed, high humidity, gritty southern football.

And South Alabama has a brand spanking new stadium that should be a game changer for them.
And Texas State is the Sun Belt's sleeping giant.
And, allegedly, Georgia State is a sleeping giant, too. They're also the next team to join the AAC. Just ask their fans.
And Coastal Carolina... I say the jury is still out on them. Still new to FBS.
And ULM punches well above their weight.

It was a good decision to stay at 10 and not expand with Missouri St (historically a BB school) and EKU (no upside) earlier in the decade.

I mean, our program is what, 11 years old? And we have a new state of the art on-campus stadium, a new practice facility, and excellent football facilities that were just renovated this year as well. I’m excited to see what return we have on our investment.

I agree. Adding schools for the sake of it makes no sense to me. In fact I’d argue a conference with less teams makes the weak ones more obvious and kind of forces them to improve out of shame.
If you’ve got 14 or 16 teams in your conference, you can win 5 games every year and still be “middle of the pack”. What’s the point of having 7 sub .500 teams?

Sun Belt significantly increased their win total vs. Big 12. They are now 8-70 all time.

Looks like Coastal is about to make it a 3-score game against Kansas.

Eesh. If Les Miles can't save that program, then who can?

The funny part is that they EASILY could have wins against Tulane, Memphis, and SMU as well. They have actually missed more chances than they converted - and they still look scary af.

We used to call him The Blueberry. Then he'd coach circles around Bill Callahan and drive half of the state to drinking. We don't take losses to Kansas or Iowa State well.

I think he's one of the most overrated coaches there is TBH. Might be the worst coach to win a national championship other than Gene Chizik.
