What are the consequences of the B1G *itching out?
I'm watch Clemson beat up on Wake Forest right now wondering why can't the Big Ten play ball. Moreover, what long term consequences if any do you thing will come from the lack of solid leadership at the top. I for one want Ohio State, Penn State, & Michigan to consider leaving the conference and staying together wherever they go. Maybe I'm despondent and bitterly disappointed at the radio silence coming from the feckless leadership in Chicago but suffice it to say that I AM PISSED!!!

RE: What are the consequences of the B1G *itching out?
I can see a scenario where the B1G will get 60% of the votes needed to play ASAP and allow the others [minority vote] to opt out of playing. That's a win-win and Warren can put away his flame retardant suits. They can use the "new medical information and testing capabilities" as the reason for the change in heart to play. Eventually, this all goes away. No harm. No foul. But...I can also see where they won't get enough votes for 60% or they wait too long for a vote to keep pace with the current FBS. This has been such a cluster eff so all bets are off...

You have to know it will be used against Big Slow teams on the recruiting trail. "Why would you want to go to a school where you don't know if you'll even get to play a season?"

They either need to shat or get off the pot. Translation: vote to play by mid-October or sit out until Fall 2021. I just can't see any wisdom or justification to play in November or later. Can you imagine as the rest of FBS is winding down and the CFP committe rankings are taking shape the B1G is just getting started? Talk about horrific optics. That would be the ultimate stab in the eye for the coaches, players and fans. Recruiting, players leaving early for the NFL, player transfers, national interest would all be negatively impacted. If they sit out the season then at least they're aligned with the Ivy League, P12, MAC, and MWC.

They probably think that with an 8 game schedule they can still put Ohio State in the playoffs.

I don't know who would not play but I could see Minnesota, Maryland, Rutgers, Illinois, and NW opting out.

1. What's been lost by the Big 10?
Any semblance of unity & cohesion outside of academics. Lot's of money. Recruits. A little bit of your prestige.

2. If Vanderbilt dropped out and Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State joined the SEC do you have any idea how much revenue we would all generate? We are now talking 7 venues of over 100,000 plus all of those in the SEC which are in the 80,000 and 90,000 range to boot.

Here's your conference:
Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State
Auburn, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina
Alabama, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Tennessee
Arkansas, Louisiana State, Missouri, Texas A&M
Stadia that exceed 100,000

I'd guess the revenue would approach 90 million per school.

Vandy isn't going anywhere.

Vanderbilt likely won't go the pay for play route. They already refuse to upgrade facilities, and they don't offer the requisite required sports. Yes they are a legacy, and I suppose a partial membership would be possible. But if the opportunity was there to build the conference in a highly profitable way we could always consider 18:

Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio State, Penn State, Wisconsin
Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana State, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Texas A&M
Auburn, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vanderbilt

It still works, and the revenue total would still be 90,000, possibly plus.

They would be playing with fire. The CFP rankings start Tuesday, November 17th and end on selection Sunday, December 20th. I don't see how the rankings could be adjusted for teams that started in late October or early November.
