This is a huge offseason for the Nats..

I guess. Still you have a lot left. But, What's up with Soto?

Who do ya'll have coming off the books this offseason, and what are your top 3 priorities for this offseason?

Also, I'll take a split with Nats at this point. As long as we don't lose ground to them we will be better off. NLeast still tight top to bottom. Anyone could still get into playoffs.

Question RE: 2020 MLB Thread
BTW, letting Josh Donaldson walk to Twins offseason was a b9old but brilliant move. Ozuna has been stellar so far, and we should be getting Ozzie Albeis back off DL soon. I don;t recall ever seeing a Braves lineup with so many hitters over .300 after a month of season.

Suzuki, Thames, Eaton, Sanchez, Doolittle all fall off.

For me 3 big things-
4th starter to replace Sanchez
RF to replace Eaton

Oh saw this with Fried...
Max Fried FB velocity by game in 2020:
94.1 <—- Game #1
94.1
93.3
93.4
92.7
93.3
93.7
92.2 <—
91.7 <—— Tonight

Yipes! That's a little concerning. With what happened with Folty losing huis velocity earlier, this is not what we need.

One the good news side, Freeman with his second career Grand Slam in just 3 days. Chipper texted him they tend to come in buches. freeman replied he hoped bunches weren't over yet.

Ian Anderson goes again tomorrow against Marlins. He has looked good early, but lets' see how it goes when league has more video on him.

and..

Question RE: 2020 MLB Thread
Q; Has any team ever lost its ENTIRE starting rotation and still made the playoffs?

Atlanta Braves put ace Max Fried on 10-day IL with back spasms

As I said above, I've never seen a Braves team with this much offense. But how in the heck are we supposed to compete when ALL of our starting pitchers are gone? I mean, our bullpen's pretty good, but really?

I heard from a friend they're letting fans gather outside Truist park at the Jumbotron and watch the games together. Might try that so we can be around other people more.

Question RE: 2020 MLB Thread
Byproduct of no fans in stands:

Quote:Rizzo was hollering at umpires earlier in the Nationals-Braves series.

“We informed the office that if it continued we’d stop it,” West said. “And we did.” longtime crew chief Joe West saying, “enough is enough.”

“I wouldn’t take that from a player. I wouldn’t take that from a manager,” West told The Associated Press. “If it was Donald Trump, I’d eject him, too. But I’d still vote for him.”

RE: 2020 MLB Thread
MLB needs to rein in umpires like West. He's claiming he has the authority to throw anyone out of the stands or suites? Just for telling an umpire that he sucks at his job?

C'mon, MLB. Put a stop to that crap.

You wonder how much of this is impacting the older guys this year.. I looked and there are 24 guys right now that are qualified batting below .220. Of those 24, 9 are 30 or older. Several more of those other 15 are veterans.

The prohibition on video review is the fault of the trash can bangers.

Would have been better to just vacate their title and put everyone on notice of the consequences of violating the rules, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ .

Question RE: 2020 MLB Thread
Braves set franchise record for runs, hammer Marlins 29-9

Quote:The Braves obliterated their franchise scoring record and set the NL record in a 29-9 romp over the Miami Marlins on Wednesday night.

The Braves broke loose for 11 runs in the second and nearly matched the modern scoring mark since 1900, set by the Texas Rangers in a 30-3 rout of the Baltimore Orioles in 2007.

The Braves had 23 hits, including seven homers, to score the most runs in their history in Boston, Milwaukee and Atlanta. They topped the old record by six runs. Duvall's enormous night came exactly a week after he hit three home runs in a game at Boston.

"I've never seen an offense click like that, all together," Freddy Freeman said.

Adam Duvall became the first player in franchise with more than one three-homer game -- and he accomplished the feat twice in eight days. He also hit three homers on Sept. 2 at Boston.

Duvall's nine RBI tied pitcher Tony Cloninger's franchise record, set on July 3, 1966.

Small note: Braves starter, former Oriole left-hander Tommy Milone, gave up 8 runs and did not get the win, so Braves starting pitching woes continue.

I like the linescore:

Code:
1    2    3    4    5    6    7    8    9    R    H    E
0    2    3    3    0    0    1    0    0    9    13    2 MIA
0    11    2    3    6    3    4    0    -    29    23    0 ATL

A couple of residual factoids from the Braves' record outburst on Wednesday, per Elias: The 18 runs scored via homers tied an MLB mark. Also, Adam Duvall (9 RBI) Freddie Freeman (6), and Ronald Acuna Jr. (5) combined to become just the ninth trio of teammates to each drive in five or runs in a game. But it's happened twice this season: The Giants did it on Sept. 1 against the Rockies.

Question RE: 2020 MLB Thread
Meanwhile the Nats are starting to make their run, as predicted, and already up 2-0 early on Braves in 2nd. See, I told you, stever, they're not done yet, and our starting pitching is non-existent.
