BYU dominating Navy 14-0 after 1 qrt. With crying Herbie at the microphone.

The 24year old Mormons look too big and strong for Middies.

Now 21-0 and this may get real ugly.

Expect BYU to go 8-0. Only hard games left are Army and Houston.

Now 31-0 at half.

This is turning out to be an embarrassing ass wuppin'. Aside from the superior line and QB play, BYU just looks so much more prepared and game conditioned. Will Navy score in the second half? I'm not going to stick around to find out...

RE: 2020 College Football Season Thread
When I heard them talking before the game about all the preventative measures Navy was taking (no judgment here) including things like virtual team meetings, no contact in practice, not using the locker room, etc. I wondered how Navy would be ready to play football. On top of that, I'm realizing how bizarre it is to see football being played in an empty stadium so there's zero energy there. Maybe Navy gets better over the course of the season but they don't look like they are ready to play tonight.

Either Navy sucks or BYU is awesome.

This is ugly.

Clearly “virtual football” leads to embarrassing results on the field.

No contact in practice? What's the point in even playing this season then? What a disservice to the players to not prepare them for live action, then throw them into a live game environment to be slaughtered.

BYU 55 Navy 3 Without real practices Navy looked like an FCS team. In 2 weeks we will see if BYU is that good when they play Army who did real practices and beat CUSA MTSU 42-0.

That's just your typical 2020 logic at work.

Don't practice right thinking that you're being "safe", but then show up for a game and get your brains beat in.

It's about like our HS band.

They make them all wear masks... but all their masks had holes cut in them so they can stick their mouthpieces in and play their instruments.

Genius. We are living in a world with absolutely no sense.

It's odd that Navy went that route when Army prepared for their game a bit more traditionally ( as traditional as you can get right now). West Point is a perfect type of atmosphere/place where you can really control and limit the amount of exposure that Cadets have... I would have assumed Navy would have been the same way.

RE: 2020 College Football Season Thread
Well the P6 narrative took a few bumps and bruises this weekend.

BYU crushing Navy may put the spotlight on the Cougars as the G5 team to beat and I won't be surprised if they suddenly join the top 25. SMU was far from dominant, surviving a scare in a game that we didn't believe would be close. And Memphis wasn't firing on all cylinders either. I had hoped for a sweep for the American with a pair of blowouts in Texas and Tennessee.

First week games are far from predictive of season performance. I just hope Fickell has our 'Cats mentally and emotionally prepared for an Austin Peay team that will have two games under its belt and may play with reckless abandon--with nothing to lose in its rare national TV appearance in an empty Nippert.

Navy football returns to full contact practice after blowout loss to BYU:

"We're probably the cleanest team in the country [for COVID-19]," he (Niumatalolo) said, "but unfortunately we suck at football right now."

Coach Niumatalolo comes off as a likable guy. I'm sure he'll get Navy fighting again.

I respect him as a coach but in his effort to "protect his players" from COVID with touch/flag football practices he set his team up to get humilated on national tv because they were nowhere in the ballpark of game conditioned. He probably lucked out that no one on his team got a serious injury as a result.

Those Cadets have a bigger mission then football. Just saying.
