It's the same old thing over there. They start a discussing about their game with App. Zero football is discussed. Stupid memes are uploaded. App defends themselves. They say go back to where you came from.
UNCC and ODU fans seem threatened by us. They have fallen short on football expectations and we have exceeded ours. We've dominated both of them on the grid iron and it's not a good look in CUSA land.
Sure we would have loved their spot in CUSA. But the next best thing, maybe even better, is dominating them from the SB, while achieving things they may never achieve. It appears to really bother them.

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a team that can’t fill up a 15K seat stadium with no conference titles at the FBS level talk down towards another program that has multiple conference championships, a Top 25 ranking, and can put 30K people in stands on any given Saturday.
I can’t wait to see how my Herd matches up against ASU. It’s going to be a great measuring stick for our Freshman QB, and I hope everyone comes out of the game healthy. Much respect to all Sun Belt teams and hope to see more of you all on future schedules!

Then when they realize how ridiculous that sounds, they talk trash about potential, market size, and infrastructure.
They don't get it. We know we are a medium size university in a rural mountain town. That's why we love it. None of that crap is insulting. So, basically they insult us for winning and loving our town, while they lose and flee campus on the weekends. Kind of crazy.

They all feel their location and markets are going to propel them into the promise land. The reality is none of us are moving up to a power conference anytime soon and that includes Charlotte despite their “desirable” location with airports haha. The main goal for Marshall and App State is be the best G5 team year in and year out. I feel both fan bases are comfortable with who we are.

Being competitive on the field is more of a fair fight for G5 teams than off of it.
I keep being told that App punches above its weight like that’s some sort of insult. You’re damn right we punch above our weight. Winning is the only thing that keeps us in the conversation. I’m pretty confident App fans know exactly what we are and are delighted with it.

They have almost as many students as UNC, and tons of alum that live here in Charlotte, yet they can't fill a 15k stadium? Shouldn't they be able to get that with students alone? They should have no issue exceeding 20k with these numbers, but they don't. This is not trash talk, it's the truth. They talk so much about potential, and I agree they have plenty, but why are the numbers so low even after 7 years?
