It happened before Operation Lockstep (look it up) was instituted and this virus was released and destroyed the best economy this country has ever seen, even though we endured a failed coup to take out a duly elected President, and a bs impeachment. And you think Biden is the answer? He’d be lucky to be able to call BINGO at the dining hall. With that said, I’d be more than happy to leave the politics off this sports board, if everyone else does as well. Can’t not comment though if we go there.

Maybe you should look up Operation Lockstep: https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/rockef...-lockstep/

Regardless of whether the Deep State has any involvement, and yes Virginia there is a Deep State, and I hope they didn’t, China allowed this to spread around the world, and prior to that we had arguably the best economy in US history. Again, I am all for leaving politics off this board. Doubtful that happens though as you can’t get away from it anywhere in our society today. Sports unites us no matter of color, ethnicity, gender, religious affiliation, etc. An example of that is the two people I’m debating here are ULM fans and the guy that agreed with me is a Cajun. Lol.

RE: SBC will ban required athletic events on election day
Boy, this escalated quickly....the conspiracy loons have shown their true colors.

Pandemics are naturally occurring. There have been several throughout history. We (first-world countries) have gotten spoiled in the last several decades but any epidemiologist (these are experts in disease, seek their guidance, not Facebook friends) would have told you it was only a matter of time. We think we can control nature...we can't.

Whose fault is it? China is responsible for letting this thing even start. Maybe it was WET-MARKETS, maybe something else similar. They need to bring the whole country into the modern age.

But they gave everyone enough time to prepare. Most of Asia controlled it, Europe (excluding Italy at first) as well, Canada, etc. Here we pandered to people who have a distorted view of what liberty is and tried to ignore it, hoping it would magically disappear. Again nature doesn't care about your distorted opinion of liberty or conspiracy theories- when something spreads exponentially, well it spreads.
We haven't got back to normal because leadership failed us. PERIOD.

We had a chance to stop it, move to a controlled environment until a vaccine is made like South Korea, Germany, hell even Italy. But we pandered to the worst in our society. We cared more about the economy short-term. We believed in baseless FACEBOOK conspiracy theories. We believed in a lack of LEADERSHIP.

Lie to yourself. Forward high-school creative conspiracy theories to friends. Tell yourself there is a deep-state fighting the Donald while ignoring the fact that he has been the commander-in-chief of said State for 4 years and haven't been able to find a single piece of evidence - WEAK. That's right Donald is the commander-in-chief of the federal government. See there are three branches of government: legislative, executive, and judicial. The legislative is the House and Senate - among many things, one of their constitutional responsibilities is to keep the Executive branch in check. We all send people to these great legislatures to represent us. As much some people despise some elected officials like Pelosi or McConnell, the people they represent elected them to speak for them. A Louisiana redneck may hate Pelosi and think she should be quite! Resign! That's too bad. Americans of San Francisco thinks she's doing a good job having elected her since 1987 to REPRESENT their voices. Too sad for Donald, how hard it must be not being able to control EVERYONE in a Republic. The judicial branch is the courts - among many things, one of their constitutional responsibilities is to keep the Executive branch in check. The executive branch is the branch the POTUS is in charge of. Among many things like the military, they also have all the administrative branches. See this is where the deep-state would be. Deep in the CIA, FBI, or whatever crazy places conspiracists believe in. POTUS IS IN CHARGE OF THESE agencies. He would be the commander of said deep-state..... 4 years. Nothing. He is either WEAK as hell or maybe, just maybe. There isn't a deep-state...

Do all of this so you don't have to face the reality that we failed this test and over 180,000+ of our fellow Americans have died. In 15-20 years and your grandkids are reading about the USA failure to contain COVID-19 don't lie to them and tell them you did everything you could. Tell them you pushed those crazy conspiracies, blame it on social media, but tell them the truth so that maybe they don't make the same dumb mistake you are making now.

Conspiracy loons? You don’t have to explain how our government system works. I’m fully educated on that and can shoot holes from my perspective on most everything you said, but it isn’t going to change your perspective and I’m not going any further down this rabbit hole. As I said, this is a sports board and I for one apologize for taking the bait. No matter the outcome of the election I’m very concerned that further division and violence will escalate no matter who wins. This nation is at a tipping point and the only away the great country is destroyed is from within. God help us.

So the Deep State made sure that our current President got elected....just to try and stage a coup against him.

Cool, cool.

I think it’s debatable who has gone off the deep end. Where did I say that the deep state got Trump elected to stage a coup against him?

Bro, you’re talking about conspiracy theories that have been proven false like they are facts.

It’s not the moving of a day off. It’s the continued charade using sports for something it isn’t.

Not bothering to read this thread after the first page, just posting to say Wolfbird is correct.

Athletes aren’t special and neither are college athletes. As the OP has alluded, if college athletics is about putting certain segments of society on a pedestal utilizing the soft bigotry of low expectations, then yes, perhaps college athletics is not for me.

There are multiple avenues one can take to be able to vote if you can’t make it to the polls on Election Day. Athletes would be much better served via a program teaching them how to utilize these options the rest of us plebs have to use, but evidently that’s too high of an expectation

NCAA made this a mandate anyway, so there's not much point in arguing about it honestly.

if it is, it's never been one for me and I've been up here for almost 10 years now. Is this holiday for State employees only?

No where I've worked in the private sector has had it for a holiday unless they took it as a PTO day.

I think some labor unions have this as part of their collective bargaining agreement now. They may have swapped a day from another holiday to get it and not every CBA has this of course but it is gaining traction.
