Second thoughts? There is no second thoughts about it! Starting late November is just as stupid of an idea as starting in the spring.

RE: B1G having second thoughts?
What the Big 10 is going to do is start in late fall and push for a delay on the CFP. This way they don't have to admit they are wrong.
Don't give in. If they want to play they play now

They could still play a 6-game divisional schedule and hold the CCG on December 19 if they start Nov 7. Keep a couple of cross-division games, for an 8-game schedule, and start in mid-October. Do it!

On the bright side they can still claim they were the first P5 league to try to postpone the season.

Yup they have forgone any leadership role in this, if they want to be part of the CFP they should have fit their schedule into what everyone else is doing.

This is your solution.
Start late Oct, early Nov, play 5 or 6 games, and be eligible for the CFP playoffs, if selected. Also preserves the Rose bowl.

The Rose is a playoff game this year so off the table. But a six-game season in late October could very well have the other benefits. I bet if an Ohio State goes 6-0 and wins the CCG they make the playoffs even over teams that win 9, maybe all 10 games.

No chance in hell OSU gets in like that. I mean... just no. If they want a CFP berth they will have to play earlier. Maybe schedule extra games against Wisconsin Iowa PSU Michigan earlier in the year. Lower tier teams can play less games or opt out.

Maybe.......but the claim of not enough data points will win the day and Ohio State will be left out (literally) in the cold.

RE: B1G having second thoughts?
Thanksgiving weekend is rivalry week / Sweet Fourteen
December 5th quarterfinals, UM-OSU loser advances
December 12th semifinals in Detroit and Minnesota
December 19th finals in Indianapolis
The other domes could still be used for consolation Swiss-style tournament games so that everyone plays 4 games before bowl season. Then, in February, the Big Ten could play a Spring Season along with the MAC and FCS.

This is total BS. OSU would start highly ranked and can play an easy schedule of 5 to 6 games with their hardest game being Michigan. Then you have a team like Florida that may be a 1 loss coming out of an entire SEC schedule. I do not buy the CFP committee ignoring the other polls and leaving an undefeated OSU out no matter how easy their schedule is.
The B1G made their bed. There should be a min amount of games required to be eligible for the playoffs.

Just joining in the laughter at the Big Ten.
The 4 weeks are just enough to stage a 4-round playoff before the announced final CFP rankings. If the Big Ten is looking to wait that long before participating, then their best play would be a tournament where their "Champion" is 4-0 and likely (????) to make the playoff.
Rather than giving Ohio State and Michigan (or Wisconsin?) a bye, play a game between the 2 for TV purposes and give both of them passes into the round-of-8. Not "fair", but better than having them play only 3 games. The winner and loser of that game would be seeded in the opposite bracket with a chance of a rematch in Indianapolis.
Instead of Late August to Early January, their schedule is Late November to Early April. Same time period, just with "bowls" in the middle instead of at the end. The opening "tournament" would not crown the conference champion, just an undefeated team for the committee to consider. The 6 "Spring" games would finish off 10-games of conference play, followed by the "official" Big Ten Conference Championship. Moving the OSU/UM loser to the West in exchange for Purdue would also balance the divisions for 1 season (if they kept divisions).
