But according to a friend who's been to a match there, the fans are mostly compliant and polite because they're adults.

Not children like some.

Adults can think for themselves. Children blindly follow orders. Masks don't work. There have been studies on the topic since 1946, with labs and scientists and control groups and the whole nine yards. They were testing for influenza. Here's a note: Covid particles are SMALLER than influenza. Science!

This is about control, not your health.

The city owns the Liberty Bowl so if you're not willing to follow the rules they have set you cannot attend...it's pretty simple.

One had my football preferences wrong

I’m guessing there is no chance for single game tickets for the time being?

No. Not when you have 20k season ticket holders that aren’t getting in. Don’t know about scalpers.

Makes sense. Do we know if they will open up more seats if Covid cases remain at a certain level?

It's 100% in the hands of the Shelby County Health Department. The governor gave them the power to handle it, and they've set the regulation at 12 feet. Someone needs to stage a protest to get them to lower it to 6 (or 7 or 8).

I hear you. I think it should be less than 12 feet.

Mississippi reports highest number of COVID-19 cases per capita
Mississippi led the nation in COVID-19 cases per capita Wednesday as the state's largest, most specialized hospital is overrun with patients. In neighboring Louisiana, a community is mourning a 19-year-old college student killed by the virus. David Begnaud reports.

He is the second I know in as many weeks to have lost this battle. The other in his mid seventies but also active and otherwise healthy.

Number of cases is a useless stat. Exponentially more tests lead to more cases, what a shock. ALSO, one side doesn't make the distinction between positive cases and the number of people who test positive.

Test positive, then still positive after one week, still positive after two weeks, still positive after 3 weeks with no symptoms counts as 4 cases of covid. The entire process is criminally dishonest.

Quote:DeSoto County coroner and medical examiner Josh Pounders said that, in his experience, the individuals who have passed away while also testing positive for COVID-19 have had major medical problems prior to contracting the virus and that most of the deaths have been from those over the age of 75.

According to the MSDH, 62% of coronavirus-related deaths in the state are those over the age of 70.

“Many of these covid deaths are of people who were on hospice care with a terminal diagnoses,” Pounders wrote. “Some of these deaths the person was [positive] for covid but had no symptoms of covid prior to death but died of other medical problems.”

He then claimed that the Department of Health demands that these deaths be classified as a COVID death without reporting that many of these individuals were terminal prior to testing positive for the virus.

In his opinion, this has lead to “unnecessary fear” in the public and has caused stress to those across the country and the world.

Pounders said that because of this fear, he has seen a drastic increase in cardio/pulmonary death which he attributes to two things: stress due to the pandemic and the concern of leaving the home due to false reporting by politicians.

RE: Football is currently under the 12 foot regulation
Face masks are not designed to stop the virus. It's designed for things like fluids being dispersed during the operation. Like, if a surgeon uses an instrument to cut into a body part, the fluid splatters around the room. The face masks prevents the fluid from entering the mouth and nose of those around the body.

When someone talks, sneezes, yells, etc., it might help to stand 6 ft or 12 ft away, but, it's not practical. You might as well make it mandatory for everyone to wear a full surgical suit, if you want to be effective. That's impractical. So, somewhere, we have to compromise between outrageous policies that aren't proven with some policy that takes some limited controlled chances.

To me, 3ft in public places is a good compromise. It fills up the stadiums with enough fans to help with the finances, and, still puts some distance between the fans.

Personally, I think no distance makes most sense. And, if you feel like you have signs of having the virus, stay home, get tested.

We also need to allow our bodies to have limited exposure to these viruses by not being so germaphobic and using sanitizers constantly. Using the sanitizer when you're about to eat, and, need to clean your hands is more normal. But, to use it constantly throughout the day, makes your immune system weak. This makes COVID-19 more dangerous for those people that uses sanitizers constantly because their immune system hasn't built up immunity to viruses in general. Limited exposure helps your body build up immunity. That's the idea behind the flu shot, limited exposure to the virus and let the body build up the immune system from this dead strain of the virus.

First Bold:
This is absolutely correct...But if you dig deeper you would find that the virus is carried via droplets expelled from the mouth. So if you stop the droplets...

Second Bold:
That would be a good idea if the virus was only spread by symptomatic people...We all know this is not true.

Yes, it is carried by droplets, but, the droplets splash the face mask, which allows the possibility of the virus separating through the filter material of the mask.

The number of cases going up when cities normalized, and, this is when people are wearing masks, tells me that the face masks are not effective.

I'm not trying to stop all cases, meaning people who have the virus but don't show signs. You just want to practice common sense health prevention. The people who are carrying the virus but don't show signs are the people you want among you to give you limited exposure so your immune system can build up against it.
