Do you really think an AD, any team or work place is going to say $ takes priority of the well being of students? Over fans, employees?

These athletes do not get paid. They are not employees. They are not adults with jobs. We can claim all we want the players "have a choice" whether or not to play. Do you really think it's right to put the pressure on the student to play as not to let down teammates? Do you think all these students know the risk? I forgot, there is no risk to them if I read correctly. No threat to anyone they come in contact with either. And before I hear "oh, that can happen anywhere, you lose control of factors you can control or at least limit when you go outside your bubble.

Do we really comprehend the responsibility the school has here? They are going to have enough trouble keeping students in classrooms, on campus healthy.

People need to grow up. This is not about you, your being a super fan, your season tickets, your donation or your bordom. You feel you are being lied too or misled here. Wow. Maybe you should analyze your own belief system and what's important. Maybe figure out what's driving your "opinion" here, or every day. I am guessing for some it's rooted in media, political or moral (or therelackof) beliefs. And I am hardly singling out one group here. We are forced to judge, "take a side" every day and to think my side is right, the only choice.

But I really think if STF, NIUSs decision and explanation is the end all people need to re-evaluate their perspective.

And if we want to spin it towards the field, there is no advantage to playing and they way things were looking for this team, probably the best.
Thank God someone on this board/fan base can think logically. Best post I've read on here in years.
EddieMoney...I saw you on spring break 86 or 87 in Daytona. You did an espn daytime show in 50 degree weather. I thought you were dead.

Now back to football.

I had the chance to see him about 15 yrs ago at Flamingo in Vegas. Every time you turned on tv it was an commercial for him on the casino station. My buddy would just keep going "i got 2 tickets to paradise" the whole time. We still say it all the time. Should have went. But I think the commercial killed it lol.

--- Board edges toward deep end of dock. Some refuse reality. Others want a different reality. Some ask which reality you talkin' about.

--- Bored posters kick off personal insult game over some kind of hat. Mod says take off your hats.
--- Two days later and ... surprise! ... still no vaccine. Unknown when vaccine. Unknown who will get vaccine first, middle, last when do have vaccine. Some polls say 40% won't take vaccine anyway. Might be same 40% who don't wear masks. Refuse flu shots, get flu, pass it around ... that crowd. Stupidity level: no change.
--- Bottom line: no fall season. Maybe spring. Maybe not. Won't know for 4-5-6 months. Plumes of typed hot air until then.

And this, my fellow Dog Pound(ers), is how us gray-hairs with 4-5-6 decades of Huskie fandom behind us learned how and when to take naps. (Also, the Dog Pound is not the be-all, end-all for Huskie fans.) Tip: life is too short to miss a good nap.

See you in the Springtime (or sooner, if bouncing basketballs make too much noise). In the meantime ... whatever.

You forgot one thing in your list:

Gotta admit I was kinda hoping all the P5 conferences would go for it this fall and leave the spring to the FBS conferences. The interest in FBS spring football probably would have been pretty significant without competition from the P5 conferences. Oh, well.

We need to track how many athletes contract the virus. They will have a hell of alot more free time. Hell we might never know how many have it due to majority being asymptomatic.

Probably won’t ever know the number because of privacy rules and it’s none of anybody’s business.

I can see Hammock now: "Listen up players, we need to hand over your medical records so that a guy on the NIU message board can justify the cancellation of the college football season. Now get a move on it!"

For what purpose? The decision has been made and others are making the same decision. Live with it.

You can report numbers without names. In fact, the state of Illinois does it every day.

I disagree. People working in medicare, important govt levels, and athletes will get the vaccinations before most of everyone else. The issue on the vaccinations will be fan attendance if they get a vaccine starting to churn out by early Jan. By mid-Feb, all the athletes would have gotten it, and by mid-to-late-March, when I assume a Spring Season would start (as does the season), the vaccine will be fully settled into them.

I think the issue, if we do get a verified vaccine claimed around New Year, would be letting fans in. Depends on how COVID's going around in the town of the campus + issues on whether you need a verification of taking a vaccine with the date on it, etc.

Lots of people will get the vaccine (based on priority) long before NIU athletes. Anyone connected to the medical field. If A-Z comes up with a suitable vaccine, for example, I guarantee vaccinations for their people will happen. Doctors, nurses, even the janitor. Police. Firemen. The military. School teachers. The otherwise vulnerable, like those in nursing homes. Etc.

I have a hard time seeing the NIU football team getting it six weeks after it is a go (assuming January 1).

And, these programs will not play if fans can't come. That is part of the decision process right now, the lost revenue from ticket and related sales.

A vaccine will be the excuse the ncaa money machine needs to move forward with a season. They won’t care who is or is not vaccinated. That onus will be on individuals. And who gets the vaccine will be similar to who got tested...those with money. Actors got tested weekly while teachers couldn’t get tested at all. The TV money for all college football would be crazy if they’re not competing with the NFL. Although a vaccine isn’t really a cure-all, people will use it to get back to pre covid life.

COVID s not going anywhere. The vaccine will be similar to getting an annual flu shot. Of course use it to get back to normal life! We had polio going around and people got on with it. This super soft nonsense is bs. Could careless if football is played or not this fall. I care about this new sentiment now that the world is a place where you can 100% protect everyone. It’s a scary place. It always has been. And yet we’re still here

I’m just talking about a vaccine and spring football. Not trying to cover society and the history of health care.
