Make that 4 appearances, 4.0 IP, 0 hits, 0 runs, 1 BB, 8 Ks
He keeps this up and he'll be the Twinkees closer within a couple weeks.

5 IP. 10K. No runs, no hits. Does he have a walk? I was watching last night, and I thought they said no walks either.

Baseball-reference.com doesn't show any walks in his first 5 games (16 batters faced) ... but does say there's been 1 hit.

Gooing back through the box scores, Tyler gave up his lone hit way back in the season opener (July 24), a 10-5 Twins win over the White Sox. It was a 2-out single by Yoan Moncada, on a 1-2 pitch, in the 7th inning.

RE: OT-Good Tyler Duffey Photo From Twins Twitter
Duffey pitched a perfect 7th inning tonight in Milwaukee -- no runs, hits, walks or strikeouts; 3 groundouts; 9 pitches thrown. He got Brock Holt out again, this time on a 1-out comebacker (1-2 pitch). The game is currently tied, 4-4, so Duffey does not qualify for a "Hold".
UPDATE: In B8, the Twins' closer, Taylor Rodgers, gave up a 1-out double and home run, and the Twins lost, 6-4.

RE: OT-Good Tyler Duffey Photo From Twins Twitter
Sadly, Tyler's appearances with the Twinks are about the only thing I'm interested in, in the sports world right now. Did see the Army coach on TV yesterday, and he seems ready to go for football, so really hoping at least we have the Rice-Army game. That would give me bragging rights over my brother. Do people think closer would be a good position for Tyler? I used to hope that he'd get back in the starting rotation, but he seems so dialed in in the setup role, maybe that suits him best?

Given his predominantly two-pitch arsenal (FB, curve), I think the one-inning role serves him best.

According to this article, Duffey has eschewed the curve for a slider as the secret to his recent success:

Strange. Why didn't he just add a slider, which is thrown at a much higher velocity than a curveball? And he had one of the best curves in the majors. So he now has no off-speed pitch? Then again, Tom Seaver managed to have a pretty solid career relying almost exclusively on a FB-slider power combination (As did Steve Carlton). But that was a very different era.

Another perfect inning today for Duffey and the win as well vs KC. The Twins closer Rogers continues to struggle some too.

He pitched the 5th inning in the first, 7-inning game of a doubleheader. Here's a link to the game story, box score and play-by-play.
Duffey came in after the starter, Jake Odorizzi, gave up a double and home run to narrow the Twins' lead to 3-2. Tyler got the next three batters out on 10 pitches: a line drive to right, K, and groundout to second.
In 9-inning games, the starting pitcher must pitch 5 complete innings to be eligible for a win. I don't know what the MLB rule is for 7-inning games. (It's 4 innings for NCAA games.)
The MLB website says this: "A reliever can also pick up the win if the starting pitcher pitches fewer than five innings in what would have been the starter's win, and the official scorer deems that reliever to have been the "most effective" in preserving the win."
FTR, Romo tossed a perfect T6: 2 Ks (looking) and flyout. Rogers threw 15 pitches in the game-ending T7: he gave up a leadoff single, then got a double play, another single, and a game-ending strikeout (looking) in a 7-pitch AB.

Twins announcers said starter still needs to go 5 for the win. I wonder if the starter would have been pulled there in a nine inning game.

Tyler gives up 3 two out hits to the Astros to score the tying run. No hold for Tyler today.

He was helped by a base running error by Astros to get 3rd out and then walked first batter of next inning before getting pulled. Duffey had bad postseason last year too.
17 playoff game losses in a row for Twins. How is that even possible?
