Any talk of scheduling NDSU? That's has to be your closest option right now mileage wise and would be an interesting game.

As of right now, App State has four conference home games and two non conference home games. I'd love for App to play the Cougs in Provo this year as long as BYU returns the favor a few years from now. That said, I wouldn't wager any money that CFB happens this year, at least not very deep into the season.

Speaking of App... An App vs NDSU football game in Boone would be awesome as well. Former kings of the FCS vs the current Kings.

UTEP is also in the mtn time zone and still planning to play.

I was debating UTEP. I consider New Mexico in the western region. Go 100 miles to the east to Van Horn and you are in the central time zone. Since they are not in a western conference at this time, I didn't consider them part of the west. But having spent a lot of time in El Paso, it feels like a western city. So I see your point.

And El Paso is just south of NM and as far west as central NM.

El Paso is Mountain Time Zone. I know, my brother's wife is from El Paso. That western part of Texas along the Rio Grande is very Hispanic. Amazingly San Diego is almost exactly the same distance as Houston, closer than Dallas. It's the very western tip of Texas. But it is Texas.

FWIW, Dallas is about 100 miles closer to El Paso than is San Diego (or Houston).

Yes, El Paso is definitely Texas, but OTOH, it is West Texas, the Texas of John Wayne movies, tumbleweeds, craggy canyons and mountains, desert and high plains etc. It is "Southwestern" in a way that Houston is not.

BYU will play @ Army on Sept 19. https://twitter.com/salinterdonato/statu...5909218309
This will be the first time the two teams have faced each other.

Per Jay Drew (Deseret News), "The source said Army will return the game in Provo at a later date yet to be determined."

Update: Army will return the game to Provo in 2032.

Not official yet, but its sounding like Texas State may be playing in Provo in October.

https://twitter.com/Keff_C/status/1296216339980472320
Nothing official, but hearing two potential replacement opponents for #TXST football are #BostonCollege and #BYU. Not sure on date or locations but BC has Sept. 26 open and BYU has Oct. 3 available. Both dates opened up for TXST after Ohio and NMST canceled. Again, not official.
Hearing #TXST-#BYU is a done deal. Should be a pay game for the Bobcats. All I know for now.

If some of the B-10 schools run rogue and play then BYU can fill out their schedule with P5 schools from there. 04-jawdrop 02-13-banana 02-13-banana COGS COGS 05-stirthepot 05-stirthepot 04-cheers

I think the Big Ten schools are thinking a double round robin schedule. Finding 6 schools 5 OOC games (30 total) on short notice would be exceedingly difficult.

What's being floated in the B1G is to bring back football if the SEC is successfully avoiding problems in the first 4 or 5 weeks, play a 5 games season.

RE: BYU 2020 schedule - games trickling out, being captured here
BYU's DC was talking about facing the option and called Navy and Army "our first two games". So it appears they are playing on Monday Sep 7 @ Navy, taking a bye on Sat Sep 12, and then going @ Army on Sep 19. Texas State might be sliding into Oct 3 or Oct 26 as both schools have those dates open. And now it looks like UTSA is on Oct 10. So that is 7 games so far, 5 at home.

Stewart Mandel is saying BYU's 6th home game is North Texas.

https://twitter.com/slmandel/status/1296548938430914560
Slowly but surely, BYU, which was down to two original opponents, is building a schedule.

At Navy (Labor Day, ESPN)
At Army (9/19, 3:30 CBS)
Troy
North Texas
Texas State
UTSA
Houston
North Alabama

Do SMU, Rice, and UTEP have any open dates? BYU should attempt to become G5 champions of the state of Texas.

Is Air Force a possibility? They are supposedly going to play Army and Navy. Could squeeze BYU in between those games.

Mandel has since tweeted that he mixed it up and North Texas is NOT a game on BYU's schedule.
