Pac 10 Cancelling Early Non-Conference BB
Report out that non-conference basketball will be cancelled at least until January.

Arizona was listed in the NIT Tip Off Tournament with us in November. That and probably all the holiday tourneys are in jeopardy.

There go Mick's first eight wins of the season and lost revenue for those schools that survive on such buy games each November/December.

But seriously, any who thought college basketball wasn't next up on the chopping block shouldn't be surprised by this move. Will fans be safer stuffed in a heated arena, or outside in the fresh air in a cavernous, partially filled football stadium? Of course the answer for many is "neither".

I think it's more likely we see fans in the stands at Nippert than 5/3 because of the nature of the environment but it's also more likely to keep 14 basketball players in a "bubble" than 110 football players which makes it feel odd they're already canceling basketball before Jan 1. Why not ride it out and see what the state of the country is in October, November, December first.

Hell, why not cancel 2021 football why we're at it?

It’s quite possible. We’re looking at a 5 year recovery

I warned ya’all that non conference basketball was going to be next.

Perhaps the late OOC games survive since those will be 6-7 weeks after the election.

This is all perfectly understandable. After all, 2.2 million young, healthy Americans have already died from this deadly disease.

Oh wait... silly me, that didn't happen. That's only what they SAID was going to happen.

But by all means lets keep cancelling the world over what these genius' are telling us is going to happen.

Nobody said, 2.2 million young, healthy americans would die. This is an absurd fake argument. People said millions could die if we didn't take steps to address the issue. We've taken unprecedent steps (albeit late and somewhat sporadic in our commitment to them) and we're still tracking toward 200,000 deaths.

It's great when you can argue against fake arguments. Well done sir.

I blame all of the right wing nut jobs who run the PAC 10 institutions and most of the states they are located in.

If the coronavirus goes unchecked is pretty fing huge clue that your arguments are disingenuous. Read the study it also predicts numbers based on various mitigating steps. Shockingly those numbers are significantly lower.

I don't see what is lawyer speak about that. He didn't say anything that was untrue or misleading. Seems a big counter-argument people make with Bearcatmark now involves taking digs at him for being a lawyer. Not calling you specifically an anti-intellectual, but that is kind of a text book play in that movement... trying to poke holes in someone's argument by bringing up their profession and framing them as biased or an enemy because of it.

It's only lawyer talk if lawyer talk means accuracy matters. Those numbers are from studies and deal with unchecked, no mitigation projections. Those studies include projections for various mitigation strategies (which we've used some of) and those numbers are significantly lower. Citing the larger numbers as the prediction is intellectually dishonest nonsense.
