Tiger Football 2020 and 2021
In these unprecedented times, there are lots of conversations going on with coaches:

1) All absolutely convinced there will be no football season in 2020, they knew two plus months ago there was not but had to keep their teams focused in case a hail mary came along.

- Just so everyone knows - there will be no basketball either in 2020

2) Conversations lead with who will be around in 2021 whenever there is a season. All NFL bound players are thought they will head to NFL and not risk injury after waiting two years. It is thought all border line players who think they are NFL bound will do something similar. Rosters get thinner with all teams with key players

3) How to keep the team focused, in shape and just around while so many unanswered questions abound. Coaches do not have answers nor ADs.

4) Recruiting HS players is going to get very difficult - expectations on not having camps, HS games is real so evaluations are going to be tough.

What to do on so many fronts as well as all of the noise on player boycotts, demands etc.

Hit - rinse repeat on basketball on the same above

Given that we had hit sustained football momentum this comes at a terrible time for the program.

Seems like not a good time but it may level the playing field a bit w P5 schools on recruiting in our favor.

We have great recruiters and very good brand now. This could easily turn in our favor. Not so good for the bigger P5 schools.

I agree about 2020 Football. I’d be very surprised to see them play. I’m not giving up on basketball though. We’re months away and things may change. Trying to be optimistic...

gotcha...but this decision to not play was understood more than two months ago that is where we are in basketball. They already know the season is all but gone. We are in that window now for basketball where they know its not going to happen like they were months ago about football.

THey have simply not announced it yet.

Why stop at Basketball next year? There's no indication that we will have a viable treatment or vaccine next year either. Might as well just go ahead and shutter the whole athletic department for good.

Is this an official announcement on behalf of the university?

Two months is a long time when it comes to this virus. It’s possible to really get a handle on it by then. Of course, it’s really possible that things will get much worse. Like everyone else, hoping for a vaccine.. stat...

What is going to happen to non-rev sports?

If this happens, the college athletics landscape will look completely different.

Also our basketball roster could completely flip. We have a lot of borderline pros.

Pie in the sky scenario:
1. P5 conferences one by one cancel their season
2. The AAC and the rest of the have nots play anyway, because the P5s already said they weren't playing us
3. Non-P5 national champion

1. Probability is high it will occur
2. Outside of not wanting anyone to get hurt from Covid 19, if the AAC did decide to play with what teams wanted to play could catapult them in the country to a "much watch" fun league which would or could in turn gather far more money from TV.

Would love to see something like this happen as long as its safe as can be.

RE: Tiger Football 2020 and 2021
Nah, they didn't KNOW 2 months ago. And there has been no decision MADE on basketball.
Two months ago, they were working on scenarios and cancellation was certainly a scenario.
But 2 months with this thing is a long time. 2 months ago, numbers were dropping rapidly and things were looking positive all around. Everything was opening up, not shutting down. Yeah, they were scared it might show back up in fall, but they didn't know and they weren't preemptively giving up the millions of dollars just in case.
Same for basketball. We are currently trending the right way for the second time. And the NBA is playing. So they are not ready to give up the season. It's a scenario but the decision has not been made yet. The scenario getting most consideration right now is a conf-only season starting in Jan or Feb. But it's not decided.

They need the revenue and donations.

Think big, executive thinking.

Just to clarify, you first stated that it's been known for months.....

you are now stating that the "executives" were more concerned with revenue, instead of safety.

oh boy.
