I'm not lying-

I don't know which one Brookes would be more shocked on....

The actual numbers by the Dodgers bullpen
or that I'm actually praising the Dodgers bullpen

and he would be going crazy about my jinx of the pen as they went all kerosene tonight.

RE: 2020 MLB Thread
Is this the beginning of the end of the season?

Quote:A day after a pair of positive tests from Cardinals players forced their scheduled Friday night game against the Milwaukee Brewers to be postponed, at least four additional members of St. Louis' traveling party have tested positive, according to The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal. Just one of the new positive tests is from a player, per
Jared Diamond of the Wall Street Journal. MLB has not yet confirmed the additional positives.

The Cardinals-Brewers game set for Saturday night in Milwaukee has also been postponed.

The obvious concern is that the Cardinals outbreak will not be limited to who has tested positive as of Saturday. The Miami Marlins had four players test positive last weekend, and that number grew to 18 over the course of the week. The CDC estimates that COVID-19's incubation process can span from two to 14 days, with the median time being five days. New infections, then, are recorded on a lag.

Major League Baseball's season was believed to be endangered entering the weekend, based on comments commissioner Rob Manfred made to union head Tony Clark. ESPN's Jeff Passan suggested the season could be scrapped as soon as Monday. Another team-wide outbreak, or even the suspicion of one, within 10 days' time might leave Manfred with no other choice.

Another concern is whether the Cardinals spread the disease to the Minnesota Twins, their opponents and hosts earlier this week. The Twins have not had anyone test positive, and were on the field both Thursday and Friday nights for games against Cleveland. If there is good news in that regard, it's that team-to-team transmission during a game seems unlikely.

Based on what's known about how COVID-19 transmits, the highest risk endeavors entail individuals spending a prolonged period at intimate distances amid a crowd in an enclosed or poorly ventilated setting. In other words, not outside on the field, where players are spaced properly and are seldom near each other for lengthy periods.

Cards Outbreak?

So the Marlins and Phillies tests from yesterday came back and they're 100% negative. Looks like the eastern outbreak is over....

RE: 2020 MLB Thread
saw again no Phillies or Marlins tested positive. So that probably is that. Really amazing how few Phillies tested positive (I think only 1 with a few false positives).

Still waiting to hear about the Cardinals... Think they may be done thru Thursday and then start back this weekend...

Question RE: 2020 MLB Thread
In baseball news....Braves, despite early pitching woes, looking decent after rough start. Metz, not so much.
Ozzie Albeis has wrist issues and it is affecting his hitting.
Also, Outfielder Nick Markakis has decided enough is enough...he's coming back to play ball! Couldn't stand sitting on the sidelines due to virus concerns when most others were playing. Now, if we could get Hamels and King Felix Hernandez back on board, that would help.
Oh, and to he77 with the Yankers, as per usual!

think I saw the deadline for players returning from opt-outs was Saturday.... So King Felix is no chance now...

Really hoping you guys see deGrom tonight so we don't see him tomorrow or Next Monday. See if we can finish off the Mets.

BTW- how insanely crazy was the Cespedes situation yesterday? How Mets is that?

Quote:The St. Louis Cardinals are the latest team to suffer a coronavirus outbreak, resulting in their four-game series in Detroit being postponed.

"The Cardinals have had 13 members of the organization test positive for COVID-19 in the last week, including seven players and six staff members," the league said in a statement. "The Club, which has been in quarantine since Thursday, will stay in Milwaukee and their personnel will continue to be tested daily. The tentative plan is for the team to resume its regular schedule on Friday against the Chicago Cubs in St. Louis."

I wouldn't give up on him as a pitcher just yet, but I would take him out of the rotation. Use him in relief in a game that is way out of hand, maybe. In the offseason, give him a choice between becoming a full-time DH/position player or spending time in the minors to work on his pitching.

I saw a replay of his last pitch. He did his arm like something was wrong physically.

Breathing a little easier. Redlegs win their 3rd in a row to get to 5-5. The bullpen remains a work in progress. Joey Votto getting in to some select company as a Red...

Well, crap! Soroka's out for the season due to injury.
Braves lost 4/5 of their starting rotation.

Question RE: 2020 MLB Thread
Well, Braves certainly bounced back from the Metz loss and Soroka loss of the day before. Destroyed the Blue Jays 10-1. To be fair, Toronto had a 10-day layoff. Max Fried, the only remaining original Braves starter from the playoffs last year, went 6 innings giving up only 1 ER on just 4 hits. wE REALLY NEEDED THAT BOOST OF CONFIDENCE FROM HIM RIGHT NOW, AND THE KID DELIVERED THIS TIME. He's got a lot of pressure on him now for a young man.
Austin Riley helped with a 3-run homer. Offense will definitely have to uick up the slack from now on. Hot and cold Sean Newcomb goes tonight against Ryu. Neither pitcher has won so far this year, but hey, it's JULY, so the SEASON'S ONLY STARTED???? Go Braves, but be sure to (take the WNBA away with you). We'll see if Toronto has shaken off the rust tonight. Probably have, so Braves better be ready.

RE: 2020 MLB Thread
after folks wanted to break up the Marlins, now it's the old saying, someone break up the Marlins- winning 3 straight to get to 5-1 right now... Unreal.
