For the record, I don't mind Liberty. I've been saying the entire time that they're likely to be the next independent powerhouse football program.

I like the idea of adding Liberty, along with a $10mil check for the trouble. Those independent schools are in trouble this year, way more than any of us.

I disagree - Notre Dame is in the cat bird seat and could win an ACC Championship as a non-member.

To get a full schedule, the sun Belt is going to need to throw somebody a lifeline a la Notre Dame and the ACC. Both Liberty and NMSU are independents and would fit the bill and I hope you extend them an invite. If anything it means more football, and that's a good thing. Games are going to get canceled this year because of team outbreaks no doubt, having a deeper conference pool helps to keep things rolling.

If 10 games is the number we'd have to get to, I'd suggest this:

1. All G5 leagues need to agree to remove (temporarily) all or most conference games from their schedule (you'd have to leave in place the games ESPN has chosen to televise).

2. Everyone calls around and picks their G5 non-conference opponents (or P5 is they are available)

3. Re-schedule the conference games around the new non-conference game dates.

Well, we have Tulsa coming to Jonesboro (Day Trip) and we play at Memphis (super easy Day Trip), so we are set. No need to move our conference games.

I'm pretty aure App would be against the conference only option considering our game at Wake should still be a go. Would it take a simple majority vote to approve a conference only schedule?

Problem with going conference only is it removes any legal compensation from the canceled P5 games. A lot of G5 schools need that money now, not later if the game is rescheduled.

I'd like to see GS either get paid or force a home and home with ole Miss.

With limited attendance we will need as much money as possible.

I don’t anticipate the league standing in the way of App/Wake provided Wake announces they intend to play. I don’t think they’ll play though

I suspect our commissioner is more confused than us. He will make a comment four weeks after the underlings have worked out the schedule.

If so, he needs to be fired on the spot.

He’s not an idiot. This is just the take of a Red Wolf fan who thinks Balado has the program improving. So take his commentary with a boulder sized grain of salt.

Well, the part about our team improving is true. The part about our commish may be true. He wasn't the most loved AD before being our guy and I'm still wondering why he was selected.

Our basketball team just had the worst three year stretch since prior to WW2.

So you’re clueless as usual.

Heard from a reporter friend last night that the reason we haven’t heard anything from the Sun Belt yet is that the AD’s and Commissioner Gill got into an argument in the meeting yesterday. Gill wants to go conference-only but a lot of the AD’s want to keep out-of-conference games available like CUSA is doing. App’s AD in particular was very vocal about keeping out-of-conference options open likely because of Wake Forest.

USA stands to be a school that doesn’t want to go conference only because we have USM and UAB on the schedule. Going conference only means USA and App would have to play. It makes no sense that USA wouldn’t be able to play USM 1.5 hours away and App wouldn’t be able to play Wake Forest 1.5 hours away because the league is forcing them both to play each other. What makes sense is to play the 8 conference games that were originally scheduled and let the schools play whatever OOC games they can get. Of course, all this might a moot point anyway.

Not gonna happen. UND is good, but Clemson should win the ACC Championship.

I'd like to keep our OOC with ECU, Charlotte, and Murray State. Possibly replace the Alabama game with a nearby G5 or another FCS like Kennesaw.

As of now my understanding is there are not enough votes to go Conference only.

USA, AState, and App are the big ones insisting on playing OOC games. All three have several regional games scheduled that are day trips and easy to play. I am unsure on the others, but if I was to guess, Texas State would be a 4th. They are the only league school to this point that hasn't had an OOC cancelled.

This is what I hear in Statesboro also. The commissioner wants to copy the SEC and have a 10 game conference only season but at least 5 of the 10 teams including GA Southern are against his plan. We have lost only the Mississippi game and are looking hard to find a replacement

You aren't so bright yourself. They may be the world's worst team for four years but it doesn't mean they can't improve this season. Do you not follow recruiting?

I do. I’m smart enough to know that it doesn’t matter how much we try and pump a guy up if his offers are SWAC/Southland/US/ one that there’s not some reason for magic hope. The kid from Conway is legit but so was Eaton and you see how well that’s played out under Balado.

That’s what we put out in press releases. Unfortunately there is almost nothing else out there that backs that up.
