Should be interesting as he is moving to a D-II school.

At this stage in his career, that is where he fits best. He was raw when he got to EMU and he is raw upon his departure, I saw no progression in his skills during his tenure here. Tall guy, reasonably agile and quick for his size, but little basketball skills. D2 could provide him a credible opportunity. Hope he does well.

Thinking outside the box:

Might Chris Barnes come back with one of the two available scholarships???

Entering the transfer portal isn't a divorce decree.

Do the best ya can with what ya got!

So does this mean we're done with 2020 with two open scholies?

I hope not, but it doesn’t sound encouraging.

However, just to keep the flame alive, here are the PFs and Cs I’ve scouted who are still available:

Centers
-EJ Datcher, Miss State
-Michael Cage Jr., Pepperdine
-Courtese Cooper, LSU
-Axel Okongo, Missouri

Power Forwards
-Kristian Lafayette, Louisiana
-Antoine Smith Jr, Incarnate Word
-Ben Uloko, Houston Baptist

Let’s get one of these guys, give Ballard a scholarship, and get after it.

I’d happily welcome him back. Murphy did that same exact thing last year with Parris.

RE: 2020 Men's Basketball Recruiting
Lets assume Ballard gets one of the scholies and another walk on gets the last one, just a question for discussion do we have enough firepower to get to 20 wins next year? Yes Toure was huge loss, but Parris didn't play at all, yes Dillard leaving hurts and Gibbs had some long term potential. But we did add McBride who should contribute, Lowder is the impact point guard we have been lacking , Love III should be adequate, and Gibson may be more productive than Dillard out of the gate and coming back from injury. Not sure what other MAC teams have been adding and subtracting. Hopefully we learn to shot free throws this upcoming season. A big plus is having alot of these guys learned to play together last year. I am assuming a similar schedule.

20 wins depends on the OOC schedule! If we run an actual offense as well, and after a decade, I can't see that changing!

I am to a degree excited about the prospect of this season. Yes we most likely not have a true big man in the middle of the 2-3 zone, but to date that has not wildly successful either. Murph will have to adjust his coaching strategy, perhaps it will be for the better. A starting five including Groce, Montero, Morgan and whatever point guard is not lacking for foot speed unlike his previous teams, a fast break opportunity is obvious.

I'm no longer as disturbed by the 20 win automatic extension clause. Perhaps that is due to Wetherbee's inappropriate comments regarding Rob's last contract year. Maybe it also due to the WMU situation where they let the historically MAC West's most successful coach's contract expire and hired a bargain basement assistant coach at half the price. The world has changed, I'm rooting for Rob to get to 20 this year despite a high school schedule, thus no extension will be required. Then we can actually assess where we are going thereafter.

Lowder may be the on court leader we need. Spottsville gave 100% but his offense is limited.

Our new centers played in a combined 9 games last season as juniors. Oh well, at least they’re tall.

I was going to post the same thing! But, who in the MAC has TWO 7 footers? Murphy's doing it again! But, can we run an offense?
