They also have a look-in window in mid-September that would allow them to move forward with a shortened fall season if the risks have fallen to acceptable levels.

If the A-10 is pushing fall sports back, it seems inevitable that CUSA, with schools in hotspots, will do the same. If nothing else it'll take out a lot of OOC games for ODU fall sports.

Add William and Mary to the list. Just a matter of time before ODU postpones season’s also.

The CAA basically said “welp, do what you want, we won’t stop you” and most schools have announced not playing in the fall (JMU as of last check is still trying to gin up independent schedules). Even if nobody else follows suit (unlikely) that’s a large pool of scheduled/likely OOC opponents off the table.

Had to look to see what Fall Sports the A10 had. You would think that cross country, soccer, and tennis would be relatively safe in terms of Covid. Maybe it's a financial decision.

The official tennis season is spring, though there's a few individual tournaments in the fall. Soccer is less physically interactive than football but it's hardly no-touch. Cross country is non-contact but you're still talking about a lot of sweaty athletes in close quarters, since most XC competitions are multiple-team meets. Plus I think logistically it's easier for conferences and schools to treat the sports equally per season, as opposed to having a patchwork of sports that are on and sports that aren't.

Most logical thing is for the NCAA to definitively declare that fall sports championships are or aren't happening in the fall. Though even if they said yes, things could change, so perhaps only postponing could be considered absolute.

Word on the street is that our AD knows he's on the hot seat and is waiting to follow other schools, rather than being a leader. ODU is NOT in a financial position to cancel football season due to our rampant spending. The "spend until you get noticed" model isn't working for Wood. He's backed himself into a corner. He thought he could spend enough money to put ODU in a position where he'd get a call from a Power 5 team. Instead, he's misspent a ton of money, ODU went backwards in football and several other sports, and the coffers are dry. He has no nest egg because he's refused to have a long-term giving plan in place through ODAF. The rainy day fund is empty and he now has to figure out a way to make it through 40 days and 40 nights with a fraction of his typical budget.

All of you hoping to see Wood gone, you're very likely going to get your wish.

"Word on the street"

You make those allegations, you need to do better than "word on the street."

Damn it I had 'Fire JJ' for July 23rd. Did anyone have 'Fire Wood' for the 20th? You won the pool!

Sorry, that's as good as you're going to get. Anything more specific will out the source. There's likely only a handful of people at the school who are involved in these kinds of conversations.
