From what sources are the three stars? The only one I have seen is 24/7 --- unrated there.

247sports rates him as a three star (83). His composite score is unrated because he is not rated by all the services in their composite score.

Got it. Thnx. I was apparently looking at the composite.

Looks like we beat out West Kentucky and UAB for him plus some Ivy school. No offers from Power 5 schools.

A 3 star QB committed in June . . .. That's a long way to December in the recruiting world. We shall see.

Sorry to say, it doesn't matter who they recruit. Nothing will change until Bloomgren's garbage offense is replaced. Even he knew it was garbage last year and gave up the play calling. The coaching staff is abusive and the players hate the coaches... That is Rice Football at this point. I look for Bloomgren to get the boot... A couple years to late...

Surprised you’re still around. Didn’t you say everyone was transferring out a year and a half ago?

FTR, here's what Nocturnal said on Jan. 27-28, 2019 ... nearly a year and a half ago:

Many of the players are ready to leave when they get a chance. You will see more losses coming soon and i don't mean just the Baliff recruits. I thought Bloom was the answer early on with the energy he was bringing to the program but his true colors came out around game 4 this year. The program is not in a good place. Bloom told the kids early in the season he would sign all their transfer papers if they wanted to leave.. Now he is mad that they did just what he asked them to do. I am happy to see them moving to better situations. Bloom better change the atmosphere or they will continue to leave coaches they don't trust.

Well coaches really have no choice but to sign “transfer papers” these days.

I think Bloomgren was genuinely surprised by the lack of talent on the Rice roster when he arrived. Sure, there were 5-10 good players, but absolutely zero depth.

I don’t doubt that there’s some degree of discontent in the locker room right now, but you say that you expect some Bloom recruits to leave. If they were to leave, wouldn’t they have transferred before spring semester? If you’re unhappy, it literally makes no sense to wait around... Start working at the school you want to be at... I’m sure guys like Calderon, Montero, etc would have plenty of transfer opportunities if they want them.

I prefer not to give too much detail since i don't want it tracked back to any players. I didn't say Bloom's recruits are wanting to transfer per se... Some may want to but some are talking about quitting. Those that can leave will leave. They are bullied by the staff and told that are fat pieces of sh_t and don't deserve their scholarships. Staff talks about other players when they aren't around to defend themselves. They have absolutely zero fun it's all about being punished in the off season if times aren't met. If everyone makes the times then the times get lowered so there will be punishment. Players are so worried about workouts and the punishment they can't focus on their studies. Someone needs to look into the program. The new tuition policy coming in the fall is making some players rethink the benefits of football.

Just imagine what the GPA's of the 73 football players who made C-USA honor roll could have been if only they could have focused on their studies.

Bummer. I loved watching him catch passes.

Would you say he underachieved? Or was under-used? Or played to his potential?

I'd say, for whatever reason, it just wasn't a good fit. Sometimes things just don't work out.

He was probably a best fit as a tight end in an Air Raid scheme, and Rice wasn't going that direction at any time while he was here.

He was suspended indefinitely in August, 2019 for unspecified violations of team rules.

Not Rice related but I thought it was interesting that the Brockermeyer twins committed to Alabama today. They are a Longhorn legacy family, and many here might remember their older brother Luke was going to go to Rice before switching to UT at the last moment to be a walk-on there (he's now on scholarship there but really hasn't played much in Austin).

The folks in Austin are not happy with losing 2 of the nation's best OL prospects.

And that was after the oldest Brockermeyer brother attended Rice (not as an athlete).

I guess they just don’t like following in their older brother’s footsteps.
