Drop Liberty. I really don't want to be in a conference with them. I don't think they are going to be able to sustain their recent athletic success also there is the associated baggage that has been discussed at length here. Since we have one American school on this list, let's go for two and add in Temple. You would get better basketball, recently better football, and Philly is way better than Lynchburg.

If one would tour Liberty, you would quickly find tremendous facilities and a vibrant campus. Fully understanding that the college is not everyone's cup of tea, but this school is primed to be successful and investing in infrastructure to make it happen.

Agreed. I went to LU to watch the ODU game and see their new stadium and i was quite impressed with their facilities. The people were nice though completely ignorant of football traditions. Watching them rush the field after defeating ODU was ridiculous.

Why not? Liberty introduces problems. Why associate yourself with baggage?

You'd be willing to date somebody that was good looking but made your life miserable?

It was their first game in their new stadium, It was also their first time hosting an FBS school. They deserve a lot of crap they get but I can at least understand this one. Plenty of other schools rush the field for reasons a lot less than that.

Would you be willing to join a conference with Cal-Berkley? If so, you are being a bit hypocritical. It is a school that is equally political, has its own problems with racial insensitivity (anti-Semitism) and is ideologically far outside the mainstream.

Go back and read the part that I responded to (the bold print part). When comparing Philly to Lynchburg, it is an easy pick. Philly is a cesspool and loaded with all the problems that many big cities have, Lynchburg is not any of that.

It is an easy pick. Cities all day in a walk. Sure cities have problems but they also have stuff to do besides going in for a football or basketball game and getting back on the road. You add Temple and by extension Philly you can make a weekend of it. You can go see cool stuff, also cheesesteaks. If you add Liberty and by extension Lynchburg you don't get any of that and I will probably had to go visit family that makes me crazy.

RE: New conference
Liberty is nowhere near as far right as hundreds of other universities are to the far left. Oddly, those far left universities never have to defend their right to be in an athletic conference.

Yes you would be spending all day in a walk. Parking is expensive in Philly.

Lynchburg is a scenic, carefree, simple drive through the rolling hills of rural VA. Philadelphia is a place you plan your drive according to when you think the traffic will be the most tolerable.

There's a lot of reasonably priced hotels, nice places to eat, history, natural beauty, and outdoor things to see and do around Lynchburg.

If lots of tall buildings, expensive hotels, bars, inflated prices, high crime, slums, and gobs of people everywhere you turn is what someone likes then yes, Philly is the place to go - and for the record, I've been there a few times on 3 day business trips.

I lived in Philly for 4 years and didn't pay for parking once?

Don't know where you went or if you pulled that off in all areas of the city. The link below describes the experiences we (my coworkers and I) experienced during our several times there.

I lived there between '97 and '01 so maybe it has changed. Lived in Overbrook but never had a problem finding free parking when I went into the city.

The "put up or shut up" statement didn't fly, unless you were referring to JMU.

Can we NOT make every thread a political thread?

I get the relevance, but FFS let's at least contain it to one thread.
