Think about it, conferences left and right keep announcing conference games only schedules. The independents are nervous and worried. Why not extend Army the chance of a guaranteed schedule this year in hopes of garnering some goodwill that would hopefully lead to a permanent relationship

A good idea, but probably can’t happen on such a short notice. Also there is far too much uncertainty right now. By the time things are known, it will certainly be too late.

The Cadets are never going to write the Midshipmen a check.

No to another triple option team.

I think it would be great! It would be an upgrade to their schedule except losing OU in West Point. Tighten up geography - Navy & Army to the East, Cincy to the West. Each division plays a double round robin to keep the bubbles down to 6 teams. Then have 2 weeks off to quarantine followed by games 11/12 - W1 vs E1, W2 vs E2, etc. home and home.

I don't like it at all, this situation is an extreme example of the stability offered by conferences. We should leverage the situation on BYU and/or Army to join as FB members, we should not offer free sanctuary.

If Army wants to join as permanent FB only beginning in 2020 then of course you do it. We don't need them for 2020 only.

Agree. Bare minimum should be leveraging one or the other into a guarantee for a minimum number of games like ND has with the ACC and participating in our bowl pool. But permanent FB-only membership is the ideal get.

Only a handful of AAC schools will need help with replacements. Some AAC schools are getting calls from larger programs seeking help.

Which schools - name them. Right now there are a lot of schedules with holes in them. 04-cheers

My optimistic view is that the Big 10 jumped the gun, the Pac 12 followed (and the MAC, not that it matters) thinking everyone's going to be doing conference only. I think the SEC, ACC, Big 12 and hopefully AAC (if Aresco could not screw up in the face of a crisis) are going to try and standardize their covid procedures so they can all play OOC together.

I would be excited for Army to join us for 2020.

If the AAC announced conference only... that would prevent the Army Navy game. They haven’t missed a game against each other since like 1929.... I imagine the politicians would be outraged.

RE: How would you feel about letting in Army for 2020?
Getting Army on board would be a huge win for the AAC. If extending them an olive branch this year's helps build a bridge to that then let's do it. Long term the idea below would work great.

Army in the East, Navy in the west. Get to 12 teams and only require the two schools to play their division opponents plus one game vs the other division. That gives them 6 conference games a year. Schools would only have to play two triple option teams twice a decade. If either Army or Navy goes undefeated and is the highest ranked CFP team in their division they can play in the Conference Championship game. Army and Navy both going undefeated in conference and being the highest ranked in their division....Never going to happen so don't bring it up.

Benefits

-Allows Army and Navy to maintain a national schedule

-Allows Army and Navy to schedule 3-4 "winnable games" a year allowing them to keep their win totals up and reach bowl eligibility.

-Gives the ACC mega street cred. It's going to make a lot of people nervous at the top when the AAC rattles their saber to Congress about the academies not getting a shot at an auto qualifier.
