Left Liberty due to feeling it was a racist environment, so landing at an HBCU makes some sense.

That's the story, but he didn't have a ton of options. He was overrated coming out of high school.

Now, the Clark kid that transferred from Liberty. He has a really bright future. He's a much better player than Land.

Earlier in the thread it was said that Notre Dame and UCF were in on Land. Was it as a PWO or did they back off as quickly as they came on?

If a BCS team wanted Land, they would have gotten him out of HS. They interest wasn't there then, and it wasn't there now. They may have put out a feeler, but I'm not sure there was ever much more than that.

Hate to break it to you coach but you are out of the loop on this one. If ODU wanted Land, they would’ve had him. Notre Dame was interested but as a PWO. He signed with Maryland (BCS) out of HS. Drunkard’s assessment was the closest... 5’8.

I think my post was misinterpreted. That's my bad. His size is his issue. If a BCS team wanted Land (including ND), they would have had him. I stand by that, and your comment about ODU does nothing to contradict what I said. I guess I consider a PWO offer a "feeler."

Anyway, I actually thought Liberty was the right place for him, football wise, but I totally understand and respect his decision to leave there. He should be a fine player in the MEAC. I'll certainly be rooting for him.

The reason Land went to Norfolk State is because he is going to feel more at home at an HBCU, especially after the **** he just went through at Liberty. He had options.

Land hearted a comment that said something like go where you're celebrated instead of a program that tolerates you.. HBCU.
