Two Months to Opener!
Fingers crossed that two months from now will be at NIU tailgating and fired up for the home opener against Rhode Island!

Don’t cross your fingers too hard or they could end up permanently in that position.

Yeah I’m not one to be pessimistic but at the rate things are currently going i dont think its happening this year. That goes for the NFL too.

RE: Two Months to Opener!
Back in March college football was so far away that I thought for sure we would be ready to go by September. Now here we are in July and I am less optimistic for sure. More important things going on in the world, but I will miss NIU football big time if this season is not a go.

Home game I am looking forward to the most is definitely CMU- those guys have our number and love nothing more than to get one from them.

Time to choose your favorite CFL team. They’re thinking of a truncated season and playoffs. And that’s with Canada doing 10xs better than us at handling this. I wonder if Canadians look at the USA the way northerners look at southerners... backwards as$ hillbillies.

Quebec and Ontario getting hit hard, the northern provinces no. almost 9,000 deaths and one 10th of the US population.

It’s always about the trend my friend. Canada has half the daily new cases today as they had in May. The USA has twice as many new daily cases today as we did in May. The growth rate is what matters. The total not as much. Even at 1/10 the population they have 1/30th the total cases.

True, but the death and hospitalization rate in the US is falling. Most new cases are in the 25-35 age brackets, and aren't as serious.

Let's hope the daily new cases rate starts declining soon. Different areas of country are seem to be peaking at different times. People in Florida are panicking over the new cases, but Florida ranks 9th (US states) in aggregate deaths and 24th per capita.

Raw numbers are also misleading especially when comparing from a few months ago when there was hardly any testing. In April, LA county tested like 300 homeless people and 1/3 showed coronavirus. I think it is a lot more wide spread then thought, and has been for awhile.

I would not hold my breath for any fall sports. Look at the number of infections at Clemson and others. MLB, at least 33 and counting. It is not looking very good. And as other states have reopened and numbers are skyrocketing, hope grows dimmer and dimmer. I am a long time season ticket holder, FB, MBB, and WBB. Bought my tickets and will donate back if no season

GO HUSKIES, when it is safe to do so!

RE: Two Months to Opener!
The coronavirus is indeed on the rise. My wife works in a hospital. A few weeks ago, the number of COVID patients was down considerably. Over the past week, the number has steadily increased. At her hospital, it is now at the level it was in April/May. Although she wears PPE, the hospital management has ordered all staff to wear plastic face shields all day. Can you imagine what it is like to wear PPE clothing, including masks and face shields, all day long? That's what happens when you work in a hospital. Luckily, my wife has not had to often work directly with COVID patients, but she has.

My wife got a very mild case of COVID in May. She had no fever. Just lost her sense of small and taste for a week and had a little bout of depression. That was it, thank God. Not even a fever. So, obviously, I have been exposed but had no symptoms.

COVID is real. True, if you divide the number of those who have/have had COVID over the entire U.S. population, the percentage is small. But, people who think they are invincible are not. My wife has had patients who were fine one day, diagnosed with COVID the next day, and then died a few days later. Those who doubt the reality and seriousness of this virus just need to stand a day in her shoes. Thank God for people like her. But, I do worry a hell of a lot.

Thank you health care workers! A very tough job. I know of eight people who have had mild cases (3) through death (2). This includes several younger people (3) in which two were hospitalized and one that had to go to rehab after being on a ventilator for weeks. This is a very serious disease. Those that deny what is front of them do it for their own agenda.

Any reports coming out of the program regarding practices, workouts, players/staff testing positive, how the players who have recovered are faring, etc.?

Is there any reporting coming out of the Star or DeKalb paper?

RE: Two Months to Opener!
As teams return to full squad practice mode there's a great chance a bunch of players will get Covid. If that happens I could see a number of programs shutting down for two weeks, as some alreay have. In that case the first two weeks of the season will probably be lopped off since it would be easier from a logistics standpoint to do that than try to move the whole schedule back two weeks. Our first game would be September 19 at EMU. Also, as I've mentioned elsewhere, I'll believe BYU is coming to play in an empty stadium in Bridgeview when I see it.

I'm sure some football players have already contracted COVID-19 and have recovered. I'm curious to know how they are doing post-recovery. I'm reading that many people who "recover" from the symptoms still have health issues, particularly with cardiorespiratory function and even balance.

I assume many players across the country contracted the virus in April and May and that would give us at least some anecdotal information on post-recovery athletic performance.

RE: Two Months to Opener!
How many threads are some people going to wreck?

To me, more important questions: how many potential member/posters are being driven away? How many long-time fans say the hell with it and just read the official website? They can get the same c*** on Twitter or other boards/blogs, so why not just lurk as a "guest" and occasionally amuse themselves.

Been a Huskies fan since fall 1972, but only on this board since early 2018. Thought it would be a great place to connect, get some reasoned opinions, new information, swap ideas, etc. Wow, was I wrong.

Took a hiatus over this c*** a month ago, came back, and ... it's worse. Politics and social platforming have infested and infected the Dog Pound to the point of disease. Now we're attracting b***s**t from other board(s), apparently just for their amusement, since I didn't see them posting that c*** on their own board.

IMO, going to get to the point where the Dog Pound has no real value to Huskies fans or the Huskies.

So ... REAL Huskies fans ... take back the board!
