Hopefully we can continue to schedule mid-level P5's like Purdue & UCLA - and get home games from them. However, unless TV gets involved, we're going to find it harder and harder to schedule those types of teams to come here.
That's another reason I like playing Ole Miss, Miss St, Tennessee, Missouri & Ark - they will still play us here in the LB every now & then. They are the right "mid-level P5" types of teams that we are talking about playing, teams that will play at the LB, bring a lot of fans, and probably won't be double-digit favorites against the Tigers.
I agree, but probably wouldn't include UTK in that group that will play us occasionally, since they have dodged us repeatedly. Also I wouldn't mind an occasional buy game against a Clemson, AL, UGA level program if they won't play us H&H. We'd make a great payday, we'd get natl TV, and even a one sided loss probably wouldn't hurt much. Cincy played Ohio St last season & got hammered but were still ranked above us until we beat them in the reg season. And just think of the recognition if we beat them (a Clemson type) or played them tough.
Okay, I should have read this before I said I was out. Because you KEEP on saying things that aren't accurate.
Cincy was behind us in the CFP rankings last year in the 2 weeks PRIOR to us playing them. We were neck and neck, sure. But we were ahead. So their loss to Ohio State was more damaging than our loss to Temple. You shouldn't have to misrepresent to try to make your point.
Okay, now I'm really out of this back and forth.
You can't see or refuse to see the forest for the trees. I'm not going to spend all day looking up stats & you can get sidetracked on whether we were a few points behind Cincy or not but it is simply a deflection from facing the consequences of a weak OOC schedule - the practice costs us revenue & will more years than not it will cost us the invite to the NY6. Try to think critically. The point is OOC scheduling, the only scheduling our AD can control. We leave revenue on the table by playing low level G5s. And specifically, last season, because of their win over FSU even though FSU turned out to be very mediocre at best, Boise had the edge for the NY6 bowl until they lost in conference. Bottom line, based on the season type we had last year, as great as it was for us, had Boise gone undefeated in-conference, Boise would have received the NY6 invite - and that because of our weak OOC schedule & one loss in-conference. We should be scheduling to prevent that & also to increase revenue. Quoting total conference strength, whether we had more schools ranked than the MWC is not the issue, it's revenue & voter perceptions that count. And those voter perceptions were that Boise would get the NY6 until Boise lost in-conference. Boise was in that position due to their early season win over FSU - and that is why we should schedule up OOC.

Quote:you can get sidetracked on whether we were a few points behind Cincy or not
Your exact point, not sidetracked. You said the AAC was behind Boise with the same number of losses, that was a lie. You said we were behind Cincinnati, that was a lie.
Quote:the practice costs us revenue & will more years than not it will cost us the invite to the NY6.
Just dumb on every level. We played 4 games against teams that ended up ranked last year. Boise played ZERO. Clemson played ZERO. We made the NY6 game last year. What would have happened IF we would have played at Ohio State last year like Cincinnati did? No NY6.
Boise hasn't played in the NY6 in 5 years and didn't play in it last year even though they only had 1 loss going into bowl season. They hadn't had a 1 loss season prior to that since 2011. Everything you say is the opposite of the truth.
Quote:The point is OOC scheduling, the only scheduling our AD can control.
Another dumb point. Our AD can force teams to play us?
Quote:And specifically, last season, because of their win over FSU even though FSU turned out to be very mediocre at best, Boise had the edge for the NY6 bowl until they lost in conference.
You are so thick and dishonest. You keep repeating lies constantly. It was explained to you that you were lying when you said this.

Are you drunk? Boise DID go undefeated in conference last year. They were 8-0.
Quote:Quoting total conference strength, whether we had more schools ranked than the MWC is not the issue
It's not the issue? There is no difference between a #4 power ranking and a #7 power ranking? There is no difference between 4 schools ending the season ranked an 1 school ending the season ranked? The AAC was closer to #3 than the MWC was to #6. No difference?

1. MWC Revenue Ranking. 1. Air Force, 2. San Diego State, 3. Colorado State, 4. Fresno State, 5. UNLV, 6. Boise
