Besides death, taxes, and rain on Huskie Saturday home games, the only guarantee in life is the complete, utter stupidity and ignorance of the human race.

RE: Catch Covid 19 Parties in Tuscaloosa. be the 1st you win
What young people need to understand is that many people don't ever fully recover from COVID-19. The symptoms go away and you develop immunity, but you may have lifelong respiratory, kidney, heart and other health problems. It's going to be interesting to see how world-class athletes do after they catch and "recover" from this virus.
Will Novak Djokovich, for example, be able to play five-hour tennis matches at 90% maximum heart rate, while training at high intensities every day for months on end? 37 Clemson football players already have COVID-19. Will they all come back 100%, physically? Even if I knew that if I got COVID-19 I'd "recover" after two weeks and develop immunity, I'd still be scared sh*tless about the long-term health problems I'd have as a result.

This is the important information that has not been spread to the younger community. All they have been told is that they will be fine.

It's usually hard to convince young folks that they aren't invincible, no matter what you say.
If you make some things mandatory, they're much more likely to listen.

Unfortunately so do some adults. A national standard, plan, approach, whatever you want to call it, is needed. And it should include fines for offenders. We're never going to be rid of this thing as long as people don't take it seriously.
I'm beginning to doubt we're going to have college football. Do you continue to have meetings with position coaches? What if half of the QBs are diagnosed as positive.....half your secondary is on quarantine....the bulk of your offensive or defensive line? How do you have social distancing on a soccer field during a corner kick? or at the net for volleyball. Originally I was thinking maybe tennis or golf could be okay, but look how even pro golf has individuals who must quarantine. Aside from the stupidity at Alabama or the 100 frat boys at the Univ. of Washington, how do you control athletes' interactions with the general student population?

Sad thing is, had leaders taken this thing with the same level of seriousness as Canada and European countries, we probably would be having a real shot at having college football in the fall. They are already playing soccer in Europe and Korea has been playing baseball since May. The individual states setting different agendas for a global pandemic will never work. The longer we continue with this strategy, the longer we will have Covid-19. That's a fact.

We have 50 states acting like separate countries. Already we have seen some states requiring quarantines of people from other states just like real countries. This won't work with travel between states being so easy ... will you need a health-agency-approved passport to visit Iowa? IMO, fall sports ... and maybe all 2020-21 sports ... are potentially doomed with all this.

I totally agree with you. I also thought about this "catch covid party". So they are inviting people they know that have covid and most likely people that have covid and dont even know it. So what that really means is that anyone that has a party doesnt really know who has covid, so they are doing the same damn thing, just not putting money in a pot and sharing it. Any party of any kind is a catch covid party is what I am saying.

A protest/riot is a catch covid opportunity,
especially where emotion not rationality rules.
A lot of no social distancing or limited use of masks.

Let’s not forgot the thousands of people that were aloud to gather for the Pride parades...... People aren’t really worried about COVID as much as you think they are.

Dorms will be hit too.
It almost seems like a war. Acceptable casualties, banking that long term effect and deaths won't be be. Just not sure what who the enemy is/the purpose of the war. I have a feeling when we are all long gone the world and namely the US's response will not be looked at kindly and used as case study. We see BLM and social protests now but something much bigger in the socioeconomic realm and responsibility of all levels of government will be frowned upon. Not sure what, but I think there will be drastic changes like you see in history books. We are just naive to them in real time in the world of social media. And much of it depends on feeding on emotions to make $. One day it's going to be figured out.

Over the past 6 weeks coronavirus cases with outcomes has gone from 63% recovered, 37% deaths to 91% recovered, 9% deaths. Here in Palm Beach, recent deaths are mainly in the 79 years to 102 age range. Looking at Seaside Height(NJ) Boardwalk Webcam yesterday, very crowded with few people wearing masks. Will have to watch if
NJ/NY has a spike in new cases over the next couple weeks.

where is that info from?
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-nco...index.html
Based on death certificate data, the percentage of deaths attributed to pneumonia, influenza or COVID-19 (PIC) decreased from 9.0% during week 25 to 5.9% during week 26, representing the tenth week of a declining percentage of deaths due to PIC. The percentage is currently at the epidemic threshold but will likely change as more death certificates are processed, particularly for recent weeks.
