RE: Mack does it Again!
Without going in to a tangent on the state of ethics in CFB recruiting...
I will say that it is refreshing to see a guy pick someone other than Ohio St., Clemson or the SEC.

That's right, because UNC would never cheat!

It's safer to say they would never get punished.

I'm going to write a strongly worded letter to the editor about these callous remarks.

You missed my point.
I didn't want to incur the rath of cuseroc by stating that UNC cheated their a$$es of to get this guy... even though we all know they did.
I just thought it was cool to see someone other than O$U, Clemson or Alabama's cheating pay off.

Don’t you have something better to do? Ohh wait, you’re a Cincinnati fan. I answered my own question.

Carolina is locking down the in state recruiting this year... could be a sign of big things to come for UNC.

Mack Brown can recruit better than most, for sure. There has been some weakness in the past around inability to get the most out of those players - but so far I've been fairly impressed. If they beat Auburn I'll be VERY impressed.

Yeah, I just hope they play Auburn. I would say they are still a year away from the depth they had 96-97. But I like his emphasis on defense.

Why is it assumed UNC cheated or cheated more to get somebody? It could be that Mac Brown has that Bobby Bowden charm.

unlike most FSU fans, I love seeing UNC kill it in recruiting (just not against FSU head to head). I feel the same about any ACC school. Without elite football, this conference dies. And elite football is tougher and tougher to maintain as the revenue gap explodes.
Bobby Bowden always said UNC was a school that had the ability to be elite.
Mack Brown is the one coach that has shown that at UNC. Now if he could pair that with an admin that supported football at SEC levels (because UNC has the $$$ to do it), they could be at the highest levels.

In order to compete at SEC levels without access to SEC level money is almost impossible.
Even if ACC media income were equal to that of the SEC, Carolina's small stadium size puts the Heels at a big dollar deficit vs almost all of the SEC schools and even way behind what Clemson is able to earn.
To be competitive Carolina would have to go "Stanford" on their athletic department and eliminate 7-9 programs out of the 28 they now support.

RE: Mack does it Again!
Carolina will NEVER compete at an SEC Football level. Money is not the issue.
The curriculum at Carolina does not support the types of "students" that would be needed and the faculty at large is not going to go along with another African American Studies program that is a bogus program. No legitimate student can graduate from Carolina without being able to read and write at at least Junior level of college. Period. While you can find a math/stem major at VT, State, or Clemson where a non-verbal person could graduate there are none at Carolina.
You can cover up about a dozen morons at a time at Carolina, but not 25-30.
How many A high school students are also 5-star football prospects? How many can Carolina attract over Notre Dame, Duke, Stanford, UVa, let alone over a football factory that also pays the family. As long as they can maintain their level of basketball success, they will NEVER spend the money needed to compete at an SEC level unless and UNTIL, NC State and Duke do the same. It's that simple.
That is one of the key problems with the ACC, the fact that Carolina, Duke, and State all exist in the same metropolitan area means they look at each other for emotional and psychological comparison metrics. The world might as well end at the NC State Line.

Wait, did you just (a) compliment UNC academics, while at the same time (b) insult academics at Virginia Tech, NC State, AND Clemson?

The world according to RTP barely crosses I-77, much less the state line.
