CBS: Did college football return too soon? Positive COVID-19 tests generating negative views about 2020 season

https://www.cbssports.com/college-footba...bout-2020/

With some schools potentially not participating and some teams certain to be disproportionately hindered more than others will be how much does this increase the chances of a dark horse candidate to make the CFB playoffs? Could a team like UCF sneak in that 4th spot? Or do mid level P5s like Ole Miss & Arizona St have a much better than normal shot at the top 4 this year? If any teams are still playing at the end it should be a very interesting finish regardless of which teams make it there.

It seems pretty clear to me: Navy, Army, and Air Force will be 75% of the CFP field.
1. We can and do lockdown our 20-year olds.
2. Because none of our players are on athletic scholarships (recruited athletes are on the same ride guys like me were) we carry deeper rosters, so even if our early opponents (Notre Dame, Lafayette, Tulane) infect our early starters, we have more next man to up.

Excellent point.

It would certainly be quite a change to see two service academies playing for the national championship!

I think it’s already gone through some teams so hard to the point that there will be few effects this season. Clemson for example has already had like 40 guys test positive and that was just in June. Counting ones who had it this spring or the ones who haven’t had it yet they may be at 70-80% immunity by September
