He actually was pretty much a racist, unlike most of the others.

Concur. If you want to pin the struggles of Jim Crow on anyone it’s him. That said, you can’t take away Wilson’s presidency.

The DNC establishment would actually defend LBJ, otherwise it would prove that the Great Society program has failed blacks spectacularly.

Good grief. That's not the point. Lincoln was s racist. Eventually somebody will be pissed about everything. Nobody gives a shite if wilson was a racist. This is a temper tantrum to get revenge and an assault on American culture.

But by all means, frick Princeton and Woodrow Wilson because, why not, they're dead and cant fight back.

Just wait until they find out about FDR's racist past. Not just Japanese internment but the exclusion of non-whites from New Deal programs and teh appointment of former Klansman Hugo Black to the Supreme Court.

It's all BS. I would love to interview those wanting these names removed about basic history. They are poorly educated morons.

Well Wilson did INCREASE segregation and discrimination in the federal government. At least the Confederates were only trying to keep things the same. Wilson gave women the right to vote but limited Blacks. Sounds like a typical Democrat.

Personally, I think Wilson got us into WWI for no reason. He sided with the British and alienated the Germans. Had we not gotten involved, who knows, Hitler and Stalin may never have occurred. Both of those could be a result of his bad policies. And he was hapless after WWI allowing the allies to impoverish Germany.

What should we call him, the White Obama?

Anyone white pre-1965 is on the block and anyone after 1965 is negotiable. You might as well make peace with every great man in our history pre-1980 being expendable in the eyes of progressives and their corporate paymasters, and if any statues or memorials to them mean anything to you, talk with others and see if you can either move them to private land or pressure to keep them in place.

Germany didn't have to send over the Zimmermann telegraph. That was a catastrophic blunder on their part. We wouldn't have entered the war if they didn't think that was a good idea.

I would like to read more about this. Do you have a book or resource to suggest?

That was stupid, but wouldn't have happened if we weren't already on Britain's side, trading with them but not with Germany. We were as much at war with Germany prior to that as we were in early 1942 before our troops and bombers got involved.

Overall...Wilson was a horrible president. He dragged us into a regional war that should have been allowed to play itself out without our interference. The above suggestions regarding the consequences of that are valid imo. Id add that Wilson took the US off of the Gold Standard and started the printing of fiat currency to fund the war. He also created the Federal Reserve. The only admirable accomplishments of his presidency was the 19th amendment that gave women the right to vote and the establishment of the League of Nations(which might not have been needed if we had stayed out of the war in the first place) Oh...and he was a staunch racist that admired the KKK and embraced segregation. He was also an adulterer.

There's a lot of reasons to hate the worst president in US history, and his racism doesn't make the top 5 list.

Those Alt history things are fun. I always just said Wilson was horrible for getting into the war...but...I never thought about the 3 way election. They make a good case for TR winning and us getting into the war early and ending it sooner...possibly avoiding the problem of harsh German reparations that destroyed their economy and set the stage for the National Socialist movement and Hitler. They also make a decent point that Lenin may not have appeared with Russia coming out winners with far less collateral damage. The Bolsheviks probably could not have gained a foothold with a quicker and less painful war.
