Are we SURE he committed to us? Did he Tweet so???? Or are we learning it 2nd or 3rd hand?

I never saw a commitment tweet but 247 has him listed as committed? And they're usually the premier recruiting source.

That is true, but they are a secondary source (the recruit is the primary source).

I don't remember if the recruit Tweeted a commitment and then deleted the Tweet.

This is like the fog of war. Not sure what is happening and when it happened.

RE: 2020 Football Recruiting
Josh Davies-Balogun to Texas Tech.

Josh was for a long time a top target of mine; thought he could be a very good edge rusher.

Guess he held out for a bigger offer and got it. Assume he was a "Plan A" recruit for us and "B" for Texas Tech. As a JUCO he has 'one roll of the die' and it will be Texas Tech.

I saw that this morning, bummer we weren't able to land him. Good for him though getting a P5 offer, always less of a sting when we lose out on a recruit to a P5 school.

Aurion People (DT) to Arkansas State. I assume we can say that the 2020 EMU recruiting class is complete.

https://twitter.com/Aurionpeoples_/statu...03457?s=20

Would be shocked if anyone else is on the board and actively considering EMU. I saw a bit on a release that we have 34 newcomers.

RE: 2020 Football Recruiting
This is a long QnA but the bottom line:

If a team signs its max of 25 new LOI and then some current players enter the transfer portal, the school can not go over the 25 new LOI limit to replace the players who will have 'vacated' their 2020-21 scholarship.

I don't think they can be given out in December because Dec signees count backwards to the prior signing year. So in this case 25 is already the max and the school is maxed out.

That'd be great if he were!

Looking up some background info on him; rivals (2 star) and 247 (3 star) both had him listed as an athlete coming out of HS. 247 had him as the #72 athlete in the country and the #13 player in Illinois where he was the Gatorade state player of the year. Rushed for over 2,000 yards and 38 TDs as a senior. Had offers from Iowa, Army, Ball State, CMU, Colorado State, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa State, Minnesota, NIU, Syracuse, WMU and Tulane. So would have been a huge recruit for us if he had come right out of high school.

Played running back at Iowa, redshirted his freshmen year and then did not see any game action last year. So it seems like whenever he is eligible he'll have three years.

Real good get for us. Great news seeing how Branham left. He joins a good group with Karmi, Willie, Boone, DJ and Josh. Is he eligible to play this season for 2020?

I haven't gone thru highlights, etc. but I believe he was recruited as a QB.

If this is correct, I can see another EMU player who can throw the gadget play pass.

Normally those who do are not really QB-caliber throwers, but this one presumably is.

This is from his bio on the official Iowa site:

Quote:four-year football letterman while playing quarterback, wide receiver, and linebacker, along with returning kicks and punts… helped prep team win back-to-back state titles (28-0) as a junior and senior… career rushing total ranks seventh in state history… holds school records for career rushing yards (6,386), career rushing touchdowns (111), career passing touchdowns (31), and career touchdowns (155)… career rushing touchdowns ranks third best in state history… rushed for 2,092 yards and 38 touchdowns as a senior, with 610 passing yards, eight scoring passes, and two kick return touchdowns… rushed for 2,211 yards and 42 touchdowns as a junior, with 814 passing yards and 14 touchdowns, with two kick return touchdowns… rushed for 1,929 yards and 28 touchdowns as a sophomore, while passing for 723 yards and nine touchdowns, with three kick return touchdowns… as a freshman rushed for 111 yards and three touchdowns, totaled 296 receiving yards and three touchdowns, and had three kick return touchdowns… team captain as a senior

Based on his rushing totals vs. passing totals, and the fact he returned kicks and punts, I'd guess he was just far and away the best athlete at his high school and they wanted him to have the ball as much as possible. That is why he was the quarterback.

It'll be interesting to see if he coming as a RB or if he has plans of trying to be a QB?

I'd hope he is a RB. While it seems like they are different types of players, it'd be great to have him as our "inside gadget play" guy and then Grissom as the "outside gadget play".....love the different looks we could give!

From an article I saw he was an option QB.

I also could see him as a slot receiver. Similar to Blake Banham, who was very successful there.

Let's see if he qualifies academic wise graduated in May. Would have 3 years to play two.
