Of course they did. They’re were to win a conference title and build there resume. Knife to a gunfight exhibition games were unwelcome distractions.

It's sad that that was the case with Norvell. Fuente made it more obvious for those that were wary. I was not wary enough. I thought for sure he (Norvell) was interested in growing the Memphis brand more than his carrier path. Maybe Silverfield will be our Patterson... I've learned not to trust anyone anymore.

But it's the AD's responsibility to make the finances work. No doubt a P-5 home game every year goes undivided to the athletic budget. And BTW, beating P5 schools builds the coach's resume.
