Facility Needs
Field house expansion has began and design plans to renovate visitor side (old home) seating at the stadium is under way.

Needs: Baseball/Softball complex update/expansion/renovation, Wisdom Gym expansion (won't happen until new pool is added to the rec sports center). Locker room, restroom, concessions, added to soccer complex (currently a really nice turfed FIFA field operated by Rec Sports).

What else am I missing?

I mean as long as the stands are full and facilities aren't terrible, I think we can all look past it until you guys upset one of the top schools in the league. lol

That Bobcat Stadium expansion was done in 2012; just in time for their inaugural season in the WAC.

El Cecil is Numero Uno.

I think we all know Wisdom will eventually get the royal treatment, but a light upgrade/expansion would suffice for now while other projects gain traction. Plus, an expansion is already funded. Wisdom serves too many purposes to not be the crown jewel on campus.

Needs:
Basketball practice facility.
Indoor/outdoor practice facility for football since we play/practice in stadium.
Larger and better weight room.

Swimming and wisdom expansion lite. Doctavio included in the last strategic plan, boa approved. Hurley needs to request additional funds to go all out, but the project itself is approved and funded. Pool also needs to be bigger than initially planned. I think Memorial visitor expansion is approved as well.

RE: Facility Needs
My understanding is that they are planning on a new (football intended) weight room somehow. All indoor sports would use the current weight room or it might be big enough to convert to a practice gym for basketball/volleyball.... here's a list from what I am getting from you guys.

Already happening:
Football Field House

Planned:
Visitor Side Seating of Memorial (planning phase includes demo of berm)
Wisdom Gym Lite
Swimming Pool at Rec Center

Needs:
Cecil and Softball Renovations
Indoor Practice and Weight Training Facility- Football
Restrooms, Locker rooms, Concessions- Soccer
Basketball Practice Facility

Does anybody know what we are getting with the field house renovation? Additional coaches officers? Position meeting rooms? Major expansion or remodel of existing facilities?

Well, you do get to add the WAC logos on the Wisdom Gym court! Although, Dixie State initially installed theirs upside down. The Dixie State AD claims they have been corrected since this tweet...

I've seen external elevations and know the potential budget was around $4M. I believe it is remodel with some expansion or additions to existing structure.

Needs in the field house:
Coaches offices/individual meeting rooms, larger locker room, auditorium for full team meetings, players lounge, academic/study lab.
I got to hang around the former OC at Lamar Uni. and their field house is exactly what we should get ideas from for a program of our size.

Good to see that they are upgrading training room in the field house. Making room for cold and hot tub.

I'm with you. The Cecil B is the forgotten child on our campus. It looks little league and need a facelift.

People in the Ville love the Texas Rangers and baseball. We need to make a D1 worthy facility and get it going.

D1 baseball is a sport that can bring big teams to a small town like Stephenville

I have always appreciated the setting of Cecil. The Orchard... or what was an orchard that students voted and saved last year, the Campus view over the center field wall... it's just in a great spot. Huckabee Architects do most of our stuff.. fitting since they are Stephenville guys... check out their page on some of the projects they have done for athletics.

RE: Facility Needs
The only, and I do mean ONLY advantage our newly-D1/WAC bretheren Dixie State has on Tarleton is their overall athletic facilities. I'd take Memorial over their whatever-its-called football stadium, any day of the week. But other than that, they've got us beat, especially in baseball/softball. And its not like they have the best facilities in the WAC, or even D2 for that matter, but everything is very respectable and practical, and most importantly, D1-worthy. I'm hedging that Lonn & Co. will take notice and try to mirror what Dixie is doing when we visit St. George. It will be good for Tarleton brass to see just how far off-base we are in certain areas, facilities wise. A Wisdom expansion and Cecil overhaul to equal Dixie's is very doable in the near-term, and long overdue.
