Yes there are more issues besides race, if you haven't seen the video of the police killing Daniel Shaver then go watch that, it'll make your stomach turn... But it's nuts to think racism isn't a problem in police brutality. George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Eric Garner, Philando Castile, Walter Scott, Alton Sterling, Terence Crutcher, Freddie Gray just to name a handful... You're telling me you don't think any of them would still be alive if they were all white? I bet most of them would, if not all of them.
I have no intention of trying to create an argument but just food for thought: (NONE of this stuff makes any sense to me and I'm sad)
White cop kills black guy (Mr. Gray) so it's assumed to be race related based on the actions of the peaceful protesters and the thugs assaulting people, burning and stealing stuff.
Would the same uprising be happening if the killer cop was black that killed Mr. Gray?
How about if the killer cop was white and killed a white suspect?
There are more white people killed by police than there are black people killed by police. Names of black victims are being mentioned a lot lately but no so much with white victims. I suppose mentioning all lives lost from law enforcement doesn't meet the objective.
Every minute of every day there are cops serving the people doing great things. They aren't on the news, facebook, twitter but a couple times a year we get a POS cop....Poof, fuel for the fire.
Piece of crap people come in all sizes, shapes and colors just like great people come in all sizes, shapes and colors.
Again, I don't want to fight, I think most of us have seen enough of that the last couple of weeks. It's like some peoples hearts are telling them something different than what there brains are. The phrase "United we stand, divided we fall" is becoming very significant to me.
I pretty much understand and agree with the Athletics positions but I'm not sure where I'm at with JMU taking a public position on this. I guess I will need to decide before I write that check in the next few days.
