Question What players are staying for baseball 2021?
Troy has announced the senior baseball players that are taking advantage of the extra year of eligibility.

Leaving are:
C Briley Reeves (has no recorded stats)
P Cory Gill (injured most of his Troy career, didn't play in 2018 or 2020)
P Zack Lightsey (relief pitcher that wasn't reliable)
P Will Carnley (relief pitcher that wasn't reliable)
OF Hunter Mercer (played sparingly, usually as a pinch hitter)

Returning are:
3B Drew Frederic (starter, one of best hitters in nation, likely MLB draft pick)
SS Dalton Sinquefield (starter, was a .313 hitter)
P Ryan Fultz (best relief pitcher, in Troy record book for most appearances)
P Lance Johnson (best closing pitcher, one of the best in the SBC/nation)
P Zack Moore (played sparingly)
P Max Newton (starter, was the #3 starting pitcher)

Troy is going to have a monster of a team. We literally return every starter at every position, even the weekend starting pitchers.

Have your schools announced yet?

From what I can tell off of vague recall we were having one of our best seasons in a while. So we'll probably lose the whole team.

Two Most important ones on offense that have strongly suggested they'd return:
Steven Curry (maybe the best leadoff hitter in the conference, Baseball Coaches Association All-America)
Mason McWhorter (best power hitter on the team)

The main guy on the pitching staff is our relief pitcher Tyler Ownes (have heard nothing from him).

We too could have a heck of a a team next year.

Sun Belt may have a stellar baseball season.

A decent portion of P5 seniors will be taken in the MLB Draft. Let's go grab a national title for the Sun Belt in 2021.

Yup. Hoping ULM and UTA come back next season strong. Both of those teams seemed to be off to a strong start before the season was cancelled

I waiting to see what happens with the Louisiana state budget next year. Since Louisiana universities can't charge student fees for athletics, a portion of the schools athletic budget comes from a percentage of the university budget. It could be very interesting if the state or university mandates a much smaller (or no) athletic allocation next year due to tax revenue shortfalls in next years budgets.

Cajuns only had five seniors.

Gavin Bourgeois (OF) is not returning.

Brennan Breaux, a starter in CF, will return. RHP Austin Bradford is scheduled to come back, as is RHP Jack Burk.

The wild card is RHP Brandon Young, who was probably the best pitcher in the league not named Levi Thomas. In a ten round draft he would probably get picked. In a five round draft, who knows. If he's not drafted he can only get a 20,000 signing bonus. I'm guessing he'll go, but not sure.

RHP Connor Angel and SS Hayden Cantrelle could possibly go in the top five rounds.

Yes. Final tally for Cajuns. OF Gavin Bourgeois (retired) and RHP Brandon Young (UDFA) are gone.

OF Brennan Breaux and RHP Austin Bradford and Jack Burk will return.

The Cajuns have had eight players enter the transfer portal. None of them were expected to be impact players.

TXST finally finalized. 9 of 10 seniors returning:

Returning:
Friday night SP Zac Leigh
Starting LF Will Hollis
Starting 2B Jaxon Williams
Starting C Tucker Redden
Starting 1B Cole Coffey
RHP Garrett Herrmann
LHP Wes Engle
Righty reliever Jacob Little
Reserve OF Chase Evans

Leaving:
One of our top righty relievers Brent Hebert.

I know we won't be the only ones, but we'll be loaded in 2021.
