Pennsylvania isn't quite Ohio in terms of talent, but it's still a big state with good high school football. And as has been mentioned, there are a lot of options in terms of what position he plays in college.
He was a two-way standout for the Warriors last season, catching 56 passes for 957 yards and 13 touchdowns at receiver, and recording 49 tackles – 10 for loss — with a sack and four interceptions.
He said Cincinnati is recruiting him as an “athlete” with the idea that he could slide in at either of those positions or linebacker.
Hard to understand a PA 5A All State guy not being at least 3*
I trust Luke's evaluation over 247.
I’m sure he will be a 3* once 247 is able to evaluate him. It’s tough right now because they can’t evaluate in person via games, practices, or the camp circuit like they normally do. Once things open back up and he gets a proper evaluation I’m sure he will be a 3* prospect. Just a matter of how high or low IMO.
That said, I agree with your statement though that I also trust Fick’s eval over any of the services. His staff and him have definitely earned it.
FYI:
That is recent. He is now our 3rd highest recruit and moves us to #19
Still wondering why we are getting so many early commits? Hope it is they want to join the rising star! Just need a couple 4* recruits to be a blowout class!

Yea, I had no doubt he would be a 3* once rated. I could also see him and a few of the other commits move up if camps reopen at some point and once the season starts.
This makes him currently the 3rd highest commit in the class. Another really good class and should be another top of the G5 type of class.

I'm thinking LB/Sniper...Fickell being his primary recruiter makes me think he'll get a run out at defense first.

I read that wrong at first.....was thinking that would be a pretty athletic and highly rated long snapper.

Think you will find that it’s difficult for 247, Rivals, and other recruiting services to update their rankings. Without the camp circuit and practices and such due to the pandemic they don’t have as much to go off to rank a lot of these kids out of the top 300, or so. I expect a lot of shuffling once they are able to start playing HS football again.
Yeah, this probably would've been the summer guys like him get a proper rating, as he likely would've been hitting the camp circuit hard. I have a feeling we're going to see a lot of very generic ratings unless someone really pops on film.
Yeah.
My brother is a HS basketball coach. He said Ohio is allowing unlimited practices & scrimmages this summer for most sports for the whole summer, as long as it's "voluntary." Basically for the players, it's like a second season.
So Ohio kids will probably be properly evaluated. But I would imagine many states (especially Illinois & Michigan) will not have evaluation updates.

Quote:The OHSAA also previously announced coaches and athletes in baseball, basketball, field hockey, football, ice hockey, lacrosse, soccer, softball and volleyball are allowed unlimited contact as long as activities are voluntary.

From that article:
Quote: “Actually growing up I was an Ohio kid. All my family lived in Ohio, we lived in the Cleveland area around North Olmstead so my whole life Ohio has kinda been home. Then when I got in contact with Coach Fickell and Coach Hitschler from Cincinnati I started doing my research and I had a lot of close family friends that went there, it was kind of the perfect storm for me. Great football, great academics, and really great locker room environment,”
Interesting that he said we have great academics. He has offers from Harvard, Cornell, Penn, Princeton, Lehigh, William & Mary, Army, and Air Force.
He's the 2nd kid in this class with that kind of offer sheet. Iesa Jarmon has offers from Harvard, Yale, Penn, Northwestern, Navy, and Army. (as well as football schools like Pitt and Iowa State).
Also Brady Lichtenberg and Landon Fickell have Ivy League offers.
Is UC able to recruit a new type of player? I don't remember UC getting anyone like this before Justin Jenifer.

Roger McClendon's degree was in engineering. Huggs had an Ivy League transfer before he was removed. Just a couple off the top of my head. I'm sure there's more, especially in football considering all the kids that have been through the door.

Sounds like this MSU de-commit out of Florida might be one of our biggest targets out there. He's gonna need to put on some serious muscle but has a heck of a frame. And he already has his nickname in place: Spida (as in spyder).

Good article about his recruiting journey on the Athletic.

RE: FB Class of 2021
Last year we had three 4 star recruits, which were the only ones in The AAC. This year only SMU has one 4 Star.
We lost 4 Star Kiner. Does anyone know if we are in on any 4 Stars?

Last year was one of the better years in a long while for mid-level talent in the Tri-state...we likely won't have many years with that many 4 stars, but what we do have this year is some extremely talented linemen from the area (Collingsworth is a borderling 4 star and Glynn is a solidly rated guard who looks tremendous on tape). I think we've got one other one who is a 3/4* guy who is still heavily in play, but we're certainly not the favorites for him, Zeiqui Lawton. Realistically, we've only got 3 more spots in this class with all of the transfers we took on, so I would'nt expect a whole lot of additions after Gabe Nealy, Pooh Paul (LB who just decommited from Nebraska), Jamarrius Dinkins, and Lawton make their decisions.

I didn't check all his rankings, but DE Robert Jackson has us among a pretty strong top 10 list and it looks like we were the first team he mentioned when asked who he is contact with the most ( 247 freebie):
Quote:Robert Jackson is planning to make a commitment (July 27), and the Warminster (Pa.) Archbishop Wood defensive end took a step toward doing it Sunday.
The 6-foot-6, 245-pound Jackson announced a top 10 Cincinnati, Arizona State, Rutgers, Pittsburgh, Indiana, Syracuse, Temple, Virginia Tech, Nebraska and Virginia.
