Troy has a better gameday than ark state and ga state...combined.

We will be lucky if they dont beat our arse.

Y'all need to get out more.

Plus if they beat us it wont be their biggest win ever. Lol.

That's my point. Why do we want to play Sunbelt schools that mighty best us?

I like the Arkansas State series/games, but 8 games in 10 years is a little much.

Exactly why I don't want us to play them. No up-side, and risky.

I like home and home with ArkSt. They bring a nice crowd to boost attendance, a game in Jonesboro is practically a home game, the price is right, and they give us a good game. What's not to like? Those are the same reasons I never understood ole ms fans bellyaching about playing the Tigers.

Well at least Ark State is the best football team in Arkansas. Not that it means a whole lot.

One game a year vs one of Ark St, USM, or UAB would be fine. Easy road trips, and rotating them helps the games not
get too stale. Add a regional FCS warmup game always at home. P5 home and home if you can get it, and round out the last non conference game with someone like Army, BYU, or a money game on the road against a big name for a big payout. 6 home games a year, with an occasional 7th.

Have to make one game a year in Memphis with family so glad to see the series renewed. A-State could have the best team of their recent run of decent teams the next two years so it should be a fun game.

RE: Arkansas State series
I'm looking at the upcoming Memphis schedules and they're actually pretty smart.

One game against a P5 opponent seemingly every year, with return games included, and that includes SEC teams.
There usually has to be an FCS team to offshoot the 2-1's the P5 teams want, so those are understandable.
Arkansas State makes sense, even if they are a little bit dull, and Memphis has pulled away in the series as of late. Does ASU bring anybody to the game?
I understand being frustrated at the other SBC schools on the schedule, but after winning the conference and beating P5 schools Memphis is going to have a harder and harder time landing P5 teams so this could be difficult. UTSA is in a major media market and the Tigers recruit Texas, so this that one isn't bad.

Honestly, these are decent OOC schedules.

Yeah, it makes sense.

You have to realize that our fanbase is dumber than hell.

RE: Arkansas State series
A-State lost a couple of solid receivers, but that will probably be their strongest position group again. Pretty much everyone else returns, and they should be one of the best offenses in G5 next year, and could be as good an offense as they have had in recent history.

Getting their starting QB back from injury is huge for next year, and the young Alabama transfer that took over for him and helped them to a bowl game, looked really good last spring.

Defense is the question mark. They are really good up front, but everything else is a work in process. While a couple of player chose to transfer to P5's, they get some of the injured players back, and a lot of their young players got a lot of pt last year, and helped salvage the season when the injury bug bit them. They also added some really good players. Make that really, really good players.

You will notice I used "really good" a few time, and pretty sure that will describe their team next year, if players stop transferring.

The Memphis fanbase inferiority complex is second to none. They will whine about playing sunbelt schools yet get a boner because we play a doormat like Arkansas. Makes no sense. I hope Arkansas played us for the 3rd game up front because they aren't known for honoring agreements. As to Ark State, it just depends on how many ex SEC mercenaries they have when we play them.

For those complaining about the OOC scheduled, it was trash last year and we went to the Cotton Bowl...pros and cons.

Yup...

Good point...Big picture.

If we played a team like Cinci did OOC (Ohio State) instead of Ole Miss we would have been at the toilet bowl.

Not even worth the drive tbh. The out of state purchase restrictions make it a waste of time and gas.
