So after 10 minutes of silence, except one person asking to register, I just hung up.

230-3 was just a registration period. Actual meeting doesn't start until just after 3.

Stugray, the meeting is on right now. There's about 70 people. It's very easy to join in the tomeeting link, takes 10 seconds.

Hot debate over baseball right now. Coaches, parents, alumni calling in. One player had the math of what the school would lose by not having baseball players on campus ($446k if I heard correctly).

There is also a chatroom once you join in, so we can talk about realignment in there

We're in the looney tunes segment:

"Why isn't basketball cut instead? We've won more games than them."

"If baseball's cut, it's unAmerican. UnAmerican to cut baseball."

I get it, baseball is done and there's really nothing they can do now except rage, rage against the dying of the light. Might as well empty your quiver while you still have arrows.

It amazes me how many people on here pay attention to Chicago St. if only they had as many fans in real life as they do on this message board

FWIW, if my 5-minute googling is reliable, you have to sponsor two mens' team sports to be Division I. Without baseball, CSU doesn't have a second mens' team sport.

They have golf, tennis, cross country, and track as well.

Chicago St is one of the most controversial schools in Division 1 which draws heated interest.

If those are "team" sports, then the "team sports" requirement is meaningless. (Which is par for the NCAA course....)

I mean they are scored as a team, but yeah... NCAA "logic"

Baseball people begging in the sidebar chatroom. They're arguing the school's the graduation rate would decline without the baseball team.

Trustees are talking now.

Do they have numbers or facts to back that up? What was the baseball team's graduation rate?

How are they controversial?

They're the poster child for "school that should not be wasting money on Division I athletics," leading a perils-of-Pauline existence--kicked out of the Summit League/ Mid-Continent, did time on the Great West island of misfit toys.

If you're looking and waiting for somebody to drop out of Division I, either by scaling back athletics or just closing down completely, Chicago State has been on your radar.

The graduation rate is just over 10% as is. There's not a whole lot of room for it to decline more.
