Oh well. Can't get 'em all.

Samford?

I don't know much about them but it doesn't look like they have been a powerhouse in their conference. Their last winning conference year was 06/07. I think they have a new head coach, thoigh. And Charlotte to Birmingham is drivable.

Samford's new assistant coach who came from HS in the South. He has ties to many players, including Staton.

Verbal Commits seems to be a little behind. I've seen tweets from NU Basketball announcing signed NLIs for Alex and J'vonne.....not just Coleman. Haven't seen anything on Telfort yet.

NU just tweeted the Chris Doherty signing, so I think it’s just a matter of time before they announce Telfort.

I think so, too. It looks like our recruiters are not sharing info as freely since the Andre I'm 110% commited Wier experience. Since then the first we hear about recruits is when the verbally commit.

Jahmyl Telfort sighed his NLI so all five verbal are now onboard. One more opening.

RE: 2020-21 Hoops
Don't forget Stucke. One thing I like about this class is that three of the four freshmen played at prep schools. Playing at that level of competition makes the transition to the college game easier. Hadley didn't go the prep school route but for his senior season he transferred from a high school team where he was "the man" to perennial Twin City powerhouse Cretin-Derham Hall. Scoring fifty three points in a game at his previous school was nice but leading CDH in scoring is more impressive. It should be interesting watching the battle for playing time.

Yeah, I realized I forgot Stucke when I went to bed. He was the first recruit announced by NU so long ago he slipped my mind.

He's added now.

I really like this class a lot. They have the potential to be just as good or better than the Jeremey Miller, Anthony Green, Red Gresham, Sajon Ford, Brandon Kamga class that won a CAA title and lost one.

RE: 2020-21 Hoops
That was a good class especially when you consider that Kamga, who transferred because of all the talent ahead of him, really blossomed at High Point. Personally, I would put the 2016 class ahead of them with freshmen Brace, Occeus and Max along with transfers Vasa and Murphy. Would the all time best class be the one with Reggie, Andre and Wes Fuller? I don't even know who else was in that class.

Don't forget the class you're referring to also had 6-10 Ty Groce, who was allowed to transfer before playing a game at NU to Eastern Michigan.

He wanted to be home for his ailing grandmother.

I think the Miller, Green, Gresham class is awash with the Brace Occeus, Boursiqout one.

RE: 2020-21 Hoops
We have offered Djimon Bailey a 6'5' guard from North Carolina. He just de-committed from Wake Forest after Danny Manning was fired.

He has other offers from Iona and Richmond and BU is sniffing around him too.

Anyone competing with Iona (Rick Pitino) has their work cut out for them.

True.

However, slick Rick is being investigated again by the NCAA and may get suspended to start the season. That could be a red flag for a recruit.

Yeah. But the big picture is that in two years they will be really good and all he has to say to recruits is, "I'm Rick Pitino. I turned a chubby guy named Billy Donovan into an all star. Do you want to be an all star?" He won't even have to pay players at that level. I'm not saying this kid will sign with them. Iona has a lot of offers out there.

He'll definitely get his share of talented players, no doubt. They will likely be the most talented team in the MAAC.

But Iona was a winning program (i.e. NCAA tourney appearances) before he was hired. So I don't know how much further he can carry a program from a one-bid league any more than Tim Cluess.

Pitino hasn't been the head coach from a one-bid league since his days at BU going up against NU and Jim Calhoun.

Will he produce players who go to the NBA from the MAAC? I don't really see that happening either. He can sell that at Louisville, but Iona? Eh.

It's funny, he's been the head coach now for 51 days and has yet to have a presser because of Covid-19.

No. He won't send anyone to the NBA from Iona. And, you're right, this isn't a total rebuild. Iona didn't fire a bad coach. They lost a good coach because of health issues. He'll add a few players that Iona wouldn't have had a chance with to an already pretty good team. Then next year he'll add a few more. Then they will maybe go the dance and maybe make some noise and Pitino will move on and do it all over again. And, I know he's 67. How old is Boeheim?

Committed to Richmond.

Good interview. It was nice to hear that there's a chance that Doherty might get eligible for the Fall semester.

Yeah they’re certainly hoping he will. We’ll see ...
