Props to Mack for being willing to come to Fifth Third. Could you imagine Mick ever voluntarily returning to Xavier?

Jesus, this board apparently still needs a Mick exorcist or therapist.

This is great. UL is our best and oldest rival, glad to see the series back. The scheduling has improved a great deal since Mick has left.

You may need a recount.

It spreads like glitter in a pre-schooler’s arts and crafts project.

RE: Louisville
Brannen's scheduling philosophy is my favorite thing about him so far. He wants to go out and play people. The previous staff made excuses about the schedule (that's for you Rath), this staff is challenging the team night in and night out.

So much of Brannen remains unproven, but there is so much to like. I hope it pays off.

Eh... this is an exaggeration. It's really early to say the product on the court has improved.

If we're talking about nonconference scheduling, Brannen gets it in a way Mick never did. That's ultimately not how will judge him. We need to get back to being a top 10-15 program. If he does that, then I;ll agree with you.

I watch the same games you do. Can you honestly say last year was not the most entertaining season in a long, long time ?

2018 was way more entertaining. It was the best season since 2002. It was incredible which is what makes the Nevada collapse so painful.

On this thread...BEFORE you brought it up...ONE post referenced Mick, and it simply pointed out that "Mick and Rick were friends" in regards to "Brannen and Mack are best friends." That was it...until you stirred the pot.

But over on other threads/topics? YES, Mick is being discussed.

tougher scheduling is all well and good, but we're going into a year with a lot of newcomers, a truncated off-season and summer and only one grown-up. we could use a few Directional States Who The Hell Techs, and MAC schools early on.

Generally I agree, but if you have the chance to play one of your historic rivalries you have to do it. I would add that I can see all the schools trying to schedule more games within their footprint this upcoming seasons due to the Rona.

I always wondered if Huggins would have stayed would we have ended up with a series vs UK. being that Huggs and Cal are so tight. I believe we got in a series with Memphis after we left CUSA, that Huggs got started.

A lot of people on this board still think his performance here over the past decade and a half was sub-par...this upsets them.

Tennessee, NKU on the road.

Two of Arizona, Texas, Tech, and St. John’s neutral.

That’s an impressive schedule, and who know it may not even be done yet.

This is good and good for the program--it will help us grow...if we win, it can produce a higher seed. This is ALL good.

Kudos to Brannen for having testicles.

Well Huggs didn't exactly leave of his own accord.

Frankly though, this is the best basketball scheduling news we've had in a long time. In my mind, Louisville has always been our #1 rival for basketball and men's football. It's everything a rivalry should be in terms of distance, institutional commonalities, and history. Both have elite basketball history and national championship banners. Both have had more than a decade of BCS bowls and ranked football.

Short of an ACC invitation, this is a very significant opportunity for a headliner game with a great storyline. And since the OSU basketball series doesn't appear to be continuing, this was much needed for fan and media buzz leading up to the coming season.

Wonder what the folks on Dana Avenue think about this development? Rimshot

Keep scheduling like a power program and you have the chance to continue being treated like a power program

It’s pretty clear that despite the AAC tag a lot of other P5 athletic departments see UC in a different light than most of the rest of the G5. Basketball has had home and homes with UCLA, Ohio State, Tennessee, and Louisville over the past 3-4 years. And football continues to schedule home and homes with P5’s.
