Hey, that's a nice court! Call me crazy, but it looks like it could be 94 ft. long and 50 ft. wide, with 10 ft. hoops, just like the one in Stephenville.
Sure is. However, if you think a mean home town crowd doesn't have an effect on the players you are delusional. NMSUs home town crowd is MEAN. They get into coaches and players head. Countless times I've seen opposing coaches and players lose it at the Pan Am. GCU crowd is different. They have rehearsed chants, lights, lots of flash but they are not intimidating at all. It all seems so fake. Look at their overall won/loss record at home over the years and thats proof enough. I have been to several games there so I have seen it myself. If you want to go to watch Disney on Ice-GCU Arena, if you want to see a hockey game where you know there will be a fight, NMSU-Pan Am Center.

On top of that NMSU brings a larger number of fans than all the other WAC schools put together in Vegas. I will say I love the Tarleton fans pluck! Better than UMKC and Bakersfield who I think between the two schools have two posters who have contributed to this fan forum since they have been in the WAC. Gonna be fun tormenting Gillespie at the Pan Am! He knows what to expect being an ex-Utep coach!

I hope that was sarcasm. The music is "One Shining Moment". It wasn't suppose to be hype but more inspirational. That song is always played at the end (closing credits) of the NCAA Tournament every year. The song was used to pay homage to the Aggie season much in the same way the NCAA/CBS pays homage to the competition seen (highs and lows) during the NCAA Tournament.
RE: Tarleton hires Billy Gillispie for WAC entrance
Over the past 30 years Tarleton has a home record of 440-82 in Wisdom Gym. That advantage was not created by the pretty court or flashy lights. Relatively speaking, packing 3,000 spirited, basketball hungry fans into little ole' Wisdom can be just as loud and lively as some expansive monstrosity. I think your teams and coaches will enjoy and appreciate the authenticity of playing in Stephenville.

And as far as going into "hostile environments" like NMSU, I think this is where the good fortune of the BCG hire will start to shine. He has experience playing in all your gyms and will get his team prepared to play in it. He's also coached in front of rabid Kentucky fans, which is a whole other animal.
RE: Tarleton hires Billy Gillispie for WAC entrance
Since the 2013-14 season when all the current teams joined the WAC, NMSU is 51-1 at home in the Pan American Center (PAC) during conference play. BTW, NMSU joined the WAC in the 2005-06 season. NMSU ranks in the Division 1 Top 40 national (#37) in home winning percentage at just over 80% and that is in 50 years of play at the PAC. Very few schools have played longer in one facility (arena) and have a higher winning percentage than NMSU... Kansas, UCLA, Duke, Purdue, New Mexico, and Alabama. It's pretty impressive when you consider there are now 351 Division 1 schools; soon to be 353.
Also, since NMSU's inaugural season in the WAC when it finished 4th in the conference, NMSU hasn't finished lower than 3rd in the conference standing since; playing in 11 of the last 14 WAC Tournament Championships and winning 9 of them. If not for the corona virus, a 10th Tournament Championship was almost a certainty. Keep in mind, this was accomplished in the WAC under the direction of four different Aggie coaches; Chris Jans being the most talented of them all.

When you play in Cruces you’ll be playing in an arena, not a gym pard! Can’t wait for you Texans to smash some GCU butt!

These guys are D2 fans Pistol. They still don’t get the significance of that song. On the bright side they will when they see NMSU players in it year after year after year!

You have to admit, Luther Vandross, as talented as he is, isn't exactly the name that comes to mind for a highlight reel. No, we don't get it, but that's your thing. Trust me, we have plenty of wacky traditions you won't get either.

It's not our thing, its a Division 1 basketball NCAA Tournament thing. But since we go to the NCAA tournament so much, maybe it is an NMSU thing.

Tarleton should schedule 1/5/21 as a home game vs the Aggies.
And since that fluke CBU game NMSU lost the last three games vs CBU were won by NMSU by a combined score of 67 points.
