This is Castro's 4th year and he is 10-9 and could finish strong.
His three previous seasons:
14-17 6-12 conference
11-20 6-12 conference
6-25 1-17 conference
Not really surprising.
Castro has been accumulating transfer talent at a good clip.
As I have posted, he has TWO very good transfers sitting out this year, one medical and one the transfer sitout year.
This year's team got lot better when Combs became eligible.
Verde had this team turned round much faster
Castro inherited a bad situation.
Verde unexpectedly left (and shocked a lot of people). Players were upset. And they wanted the asst coach who recruited them (forgot her name) to be the new HC.
When they "didn't get their way" several key cogs transferred leaving the cupboard pretty barren of talent. EDIT: Think they were Morton and Sweeney.
That is why Castro had to do an entire rebuild, not reload.
Actually Castro has done an UNDERRATED job of building the team back up. We'll see if in full force NEXT season.
That is a prediction.
An insightful analysis to say the least. Castro was a universally unpopular hire who inherited a challenging situation that did indeed require a total rebuild. Steve I second your evaluation of his performance as UNDERRATED.
Yes, the players wanted Candice Finley who recruited them to be promoted to HC.

Verde had back to back Number 1 ranked conference classes

RE: Unofficial WBB Thread
BTW, this is our single WBB recruit from November. She is from Okla City Putnam West h.s. - She'll be the THIRD player from that high school on our team next year.
Amazing. We aren't talking of recruiting a local school, but in OKLAHOMA. Something about 'birds of a feather like to stick together.'

Combs and Skanes (transfer fit out) are the other two.

lost in OT @ Akron. Agosto was fouled with 0.1 seconds left in regulation.
Make two for the win. One for the tie. Miss both - loss.
She missed the first but made the second.
I believe Combs is on crutches. Injured in the 3rd quarter?

I don't know how we competed.
Two sitouts. Stanley out injured. Combs left injured in the 3rd quarter.
Getting to be like the December Washington Wizards. They had ZERO starters. Wall, Beal, Hachimura, Bryant and Bertrans all out. They were starting five subs.

I didn't watch, but WBB knocks of BGSU on the road last night. EMU is in 4th place in the MAC with a .5 game lead protecting our tourney-bye.

The women lost at home to a 11-12, 4-8 Akron team and are now 12-12 and 7-6. Combs is back and played well, but we are still battling some injuries.

Women are hosting a tournament game tomorrow. Planning on taking the family. The girls deserve the support and when they play well are fun to watch.

Tom I appreciate that sentiment. I just can't fit it in to my schedule, but I truly feel likewise about the program.

Much more excited for this game/team than the men's game, honestly.
Hopefully we are all healthy and can make a run. Need to limit our foul trouble and have some fun.

EMU trails by 4 at the half.

No students; no fans tomorrow...
MAC has closed the tourney to the public.

Toledo upsets CMU, who were the HEAVY favorites to win the tournament. We wouldn't have faced CMU until the Finals anyway, but with them out our odds to win the tourney improve slightly.
Of course, the ladies need to worry about Ball State first.

And, of course, defending MBB champ, Buffalo got bounced Monday night in a shocker, too.
