Exactly. He should fill that spot immediately at a top level.
He seems like a really solid get, and a great way to start off Siddle's first recruiting cycle.
Carr is a strong bodied guard who has bounce and ridiculously incredible vision. He can also shoot the 3-point shot and touches the paint at will. Not many holes in this one's game.
That said, tucked away in tiny Burgaw, NC, Carr has been overlooked a little.
Recruiting observations:
1. With Carr's commitment, we now only officially have one scholarship available. I assume that is fluid and my best guess is that we would be able to take at least four in this class (assuming no transfers).
2. Nine of the 12 scholarships are to NC kids. Most importantly, I want talent, but I like finding that talent within the state. Brownell's model was different, but I think building success with North Carolina kids will help us get back to our championship aspirations and sustain success.
3. We have three open offers to guys that will play guard in Siddle's system: Teel, Harvey and Silas Mason. I don't know as much about Mason, but Harvey is obviously the top priority and I like Teel too. I'm interested in hearing from those of you that have seen these guys play, or know their game/reputation. How does Carr rank among those four? Just below Harvey?
4. Ballard is our only "big man" offer. I assume/hope that we're hitting the transfer portal hard for an experienced, quality big. I'm not sure what all is available, but this is a desperate need. It's obvious, but Clay would be ideal.
5. I'd look at Alex O'Connell as well. I was surprised to see that he only shot 27% from three this past season, but he has good size and great athleticism. He had offers or interest from every P5 conference coming out of high school, so I'm sure there will he'll have options, but I think he'd do well in Siddle's system.
6. What happened to Mullet?
We have 2 opens scholarships as it currently stands, though that's likely to change. According to Phenom Hoop Report ( https://phenomhoopreport.com/rankings/20...-rankings/) Carr was the 2nd ranked Unsigned Senior in the state, Mason is 5th, Harvey is 8th, Teel is 25th. Though Mason and Harvey are getting attention from P5s, Carr only held offers from Mid Majors. Carr probably got overlooked by bigger programs playing at a 1A Public School and an AAU team that's not on a sneaker circuit. He's going to be a steal. Honestly, I don't think O'Connell is going to be on our radar.

I especially loved it when he sent #10 to the floor on the fast break. The dude was a cocky Mo fo!
Loved hearing his coaches comments, all sound very positive.

Looked up #10, Javonte Waverly... He's a junior and already offers from UNCG and Elon. Probably a guy we should keep an eye on for the 2021 class

Let him go to Elon....... Then we can watch Carr tear him up some more. Not a fan of that much attitude.... He was more concerned with show boating than getting back on D

Excited to have him, but I didn't see a 44" leap. It's not easy to get a D1 off coming from Pender; kid must've really stood out. Hopefully it means his ceiling is even higher than they've projected.

Saying someone has a 44” vertical leap suggests a certain level of explosiveness that I didn’t see in those clips. That’s not to say he’s not explosive, but 44” is freakish. I don’t mean that as a slight to Carr at all; I’m excited to have a player of his caliber on board. We’re lucky to have him and I like his skill set. He’s already really strong, and he appears to finish strong at the rim. I don’t think we should consider it an insult to question the validity that this young man has a higher vertical than Vince Carter. How do they test vertical at this combine? Is it standing? One step, or two? Running?
The max vertical leap at the NBA combine last year was 43”.

Whatever metric they used, he was #2 in the state. Says something, doesn't it?

"Samage Teel" would contend for the all-time 'UNCW Name' team the moment he committed.

Would be nice if Byington would do his own recruiting. Lol.
