RE: 2020 MBB Recruiting
He shot 32.8% from three and 45.9% in conference. Never know from tape since obviously they aren't showing them all, but if he can be smart with his shot selection and good at getting open for them at a higher level then obviously he can hit them. Here are all of his stats. Would definitely like to see some improvement to his free throw percentage but it isn't completely awful like some of our guys last year. He seems like he'd be a pretty good get. Being a sophomore though, he would add to an already large class if none of our freshmen transfer. Byington could always look to even it out with some transfers in year four though if he wants to avoid having such a super young team in years four and five.

Akron (coached by ex-Illinois coach John Groce), Kent State, UAB (which just hired ex-Ole Miss coach Andy Kennedy), Fresno State, Southern Miss, Sam Houston State, and JMU have all offered Marshall since the beginning on February. Would definitely seem to be a good get for Coach Byington.

Is Juwann James’ nickname JYD? If so, +1 for me. I loved that guy’s game (and I loved that wrestler).

Yep, that is what he was nicknamed on these boards (or CAAZONE?) back in the day.

A write up on Justin Amadi among the remaining best unsigned prospects in NC. Also his last 3 offers have been from Kent State, Missouri State and Ball State.
Played on a great team.
Wonder if the first name on that write up, Ricky Council IV, will be a target for Coach B. He plays at Southern Durham HS where Jayvis Harvey went. Reading around Georgia Southern offered him in 2019 and Council claimed in one article he was going to visit there in September.

RE: 2020 MBB Recruiting
That's correct about Amadi...he played on one of the best teams in the country. There's a bit more extended video of one of their games. That was the first I saw of Amadi and I could see how athletic he was, as well as energetic. In the video I posted, it's almost all dunks and from what I could gather he shot a very high percentage from field. Looks like the two recent offers, and I'm surmising, are to replace the two guys in the transfer portal. For now, the Canadian center is still committed, which I think is a good thing. I'll be curious to see if Byington (Buy not Sell, if I'm doing my best impression of JMU's radio voice) will honor the offers Rowe made to the two point guards or will extend additional offers at that position (probably the latter). Just like he said in interviews, he likes athletic players and he wants to play fast. At this point in the recruiting cycle, many of the best players have already signed or committed. Both of the recent offers would be excellent additions, but there will be a lot of competition, of course. I would expect to see more offers aplenty in the coming weeks.

Plenty of transfers to work with, though. And if the rule is changed, really opens things up both ways.

RE: 2020 MBB Recruiting
If your Byington, you likely are not looking at top mid-major players coming to JMU. Those guys are likely in the portal because P5s have shown interest. Byington is likely focusing on P5 players riding the pines or playing limited minutes who want more playing time or have been recruited over by a transfer or freshman coming in.
I am hearing Banks and Wilson are being courted by a lot of programs but Byington and even Lou are encouraging them to stay. Will be interesting to see what happens.

How could we ever allow this program to allocate scholarships to so many Freshman?

Is there anyone that didn’t love JYD ? His combination of underdog spirit, intensity, and attitude was fun to watch even though he played on crappy teams until his senior year when the Dukes broke the 8 year losing streak and went 21-15.

Who doesn't love JYD? He was great! Last I checked he was still playing in Europe, but that was a season or two ago.

JYD is Still playing in his 12th year of pro ball. He has been in Switzerland, France, and Ireland.
If we could get one guy like this on the current JMU team, the whole squad would instantly become tougher. He didn’t take crap from anyone.
